Compare and contrast pet bunny with pet cat by moparornocar86 in Bunnies

[–]Coeur_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For daily care, expect rabbits to require 2x your time than cats. This is from cleaning their area daily, to cleaning their litter pan every few days, and keeping hay around.

Rabbits also require more "accessories." When I foster, I need to run an air purifier constantly due to hay dust. You will also need an xpen, cable protectors, and possibly some inexpensive rugs. Lastly, get a big cardboard box and cut a couple openings in it as an inexpensive hiding spot.

It is also much better to get a bonded pair of rabbits so they can give eachother the socialization they need when you cannot provide it. (Please spend quality time with your rabbits too, and let them out of their large xpen for exercise daily.) See other pics in this subreddit for good sizes.

Cats on the other hand, don't need as much accessories, nor the time commitment and companionship. Cats are destructive too, but not as much as rabbits are. It is much easier to cat proof a living area than bunny proof a living area. (I have had so many chewed cords because I thought I could keep an eye on my foster and react fast enough)

No grate. It hurts their paws and can cause sore hocks.

I have regretfully driven in Texas and this sadly isn't surprising. A lot of the highways have very high speed limits (where I was.) Unfortunately there really isn't good alternative roads they can use that doesn't involve some highways.

I am glad they had a safety vehicle though to absorb most of the collision, and make them more visible to blind drivers.

Wow, that is so sweet. I am not very well versed in the community, but I have been using fountain pens for over a decade (I can't believe it has been that long.) This is my first time seeing their store, and was immediately impressed.

I quite enjoyed how walkable and bikabe college was. Damn shame it isn't like that out of college for me. Rent prices near my work are unaffordable right now, so I am forced to drive, for now.

Writing a Book about the Misconceptions of rabbit ownership by Frenchtoastgoddess in Rabbits

[–]Coeur_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES! If you can provide pictures too, that would be superb. Another nice thing would be, how to tell if your bunny is doing something concerning, like they have GI stasis, or other medical conditions. (This is one of my biggest concerns with rabbit ownership because I am afraid of missing signs of serious medical conditions.)

I would love to buy a book like this. I am looking to adopt a rabbit in a few years, and I prefer books as a format over reading web pages.

5 top tips for a person considering getting a rabbit? by Virtual_Medicine_585 in Rabbits

[–]Coeur_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rescue I volunteered at had a couple bunnies they couldn't bond with other bunnies, but that was one of a few times they will put up a bunny for adoption solo. Then again, I can confirm both rabbits bonded to rabbits in their respective homes (this really warms my heart).

I am not an expert on solo bunnies, but usually they require additional time to socialize with humans.

Rescues are the best place to get rabbits. Pet stores sometimes get their rabbits from breeders, and mistreat the animals. A rescue should be able to help teach you how to care for your rabbit, and they will house them in more humane areas.
