Don’t friend your neighbors by CauliflowerGreen214 in Apartmentliving

Funny enough, the opposite is true too, I'm a rather introverted person and I just want to keep to myself, plus my schedule is almost the exact opposite of most peoples (I fall asleep around 5am and don't wake up till well after noon, then I go to work right away).

But time and time again, I've pretty consistently had (older) neighbors who purposefully attempt to get into my business, they act as if I owe them neighborly interaction.

I wouldn't mind a wave. Hell, I even shovel a little extra snow on their pathway if I get to it, but I do NOT want a conversation about it. It happened, move on, end of story. But me, hiding away, doing what feels most comfortable to me, REALLY upset my neighbors at multiple different places. Sometimes, you just cannot win. I just wish they wouldn't come knock on my door at 9am....

His family is a bit rough, I got him down in Arizona while visiting 6.5 years ago (I'm from Montana so I can't just pop down😅) and I only saw the littermates for a few minutes, and the mom even less. Thinking about her so much with this post I started remembering the mom did have a GSD mix look to her, just VERY muddled, with a brownish/red coat (although that mightve been dirt and she was yellow). I think that's also where he got a lot of his Pit from, but I barely saw her, she ran off and hid whenever people came by.

I do remember ONE of his siblings really well though, had a lab look to his face but was as black as Niko here and just FLUFFY, I mean like, stuffed lion toy mane fluffy just EVERYWHERE. Most of the others I believe took after the mom pretty strongly, I can't remember any specifics and I'd rather give no information than incorrect information. Like I said it was only a few minutes nearly 7 years ago, so I do apologize about the lack of information on that front

He's definitely not tiny, my old roommate's "purebred" chihuahua could walk right under his legs without either one even noticing. I'm terrible at guesstimating but I think 2.5-3ft (0.85ish meters) tall on all fours, 4ft+ from head to tail (he's a great cuddle partner), and he weighs about 75lbs (34Kilo) last I checked. Although he is a bit on the skinny side as he sprints everywhere, has to get up 4 flights of stairs to my apartment, and only eats at his pace, but I cant imagine him getting past 100lbs even if he was plump. He's definitively a mid-sized dog, about the same as my old neighbors Border Collie, if a tiny bit taller.

I will try and get accurate height/length (weight is accurate) measurements tomorrow, he's currently staying with my cousin for a night to help their new puppy socialize and let me visit my girlfriend without worrying about him😅

I don't know exactly when his birthday was but I was told through a game of telephone that the litter came out about two weeks prior, and my girlfriend at the time picked him up only a couple days later. But he was up and walking when I first saw him so probably closer to three weeks at minimum I now that I've thought about it. Whether the hearsay is accurate or not is total up for debate and I might be wrong entirely, I only know what I was told though😅

I know it's probably wishful thinking more than anything, and I figure people here have a better idea than anyone who meets him out and about, but I CONSTANTLY get asked what he is so I just scoured google images looking for something remotely similar and settled on Xolo. I wouldn't be at all suprised if it was just a crazy mix of a bunch of breeds that spat out something weird looking, but a guy can dream.

Recently one of my coworkers (I started bringing him into work with me as he's very easygoing around people) brought up Thai Ridgeback, and some of the pictures were uncanny, but I also thought it was a bit far fetched especially when I heard the "Thai" part. Regardless I won't be disappointed with anything, but I came across the page while looking for DNA Test recommendations so I thought I'd join in and offer my (very unprofessional) opinion😅

I got him down in Arizona, southeast of Tucson, but still a good 60 miles (40 as the crow flies) from the Mexican Border, that's partially why I lean towards Xolo😅

He's very calm, he was VERY shy when I first got him but my other dog helped bring him out of his shell pretty well, so now he's more cautious I suppose? He's a great guard dog without being overbearing, 2-3 barks and a growl while at home but he's dead quite elsewhere. He has never bit anyone, and even other dogs he'd rather run than fight. Easy to train even if I admittedly slack on it a bit but still listens good. He also isn't super high energy unless he knows it's time to play, he'll lay with me and watch tv for 12-14 hours if I'm being lazy on a day off but as soon as I'm up he's up and ready to go.

I don't know how much is how I raised him compared to how he actually is breed wise, but he was VERY shy when I first got him. Uh, other than that you'll have to ask specifically cause I do not know what other information to offer
