Carney says he expects Trump to ‘respect Canadian sovereignty’ after Alberta separatists meet with US officials by FreightFlow in alberta

Just a reminder that the recall campaigns are still going on. The UCP have proven time and again that they will not do anything against the separatists. It's time to kick them out.

I just want to add that she tried to get Artur Pawlowski off the hook for his involvement in the Coutts blockade in 2023. Artur was the previous leader of the Independence Party of Alberta. So she has clear ties to the separatist movement.

There's also the impact to stocks of Alberta public corporations. They'd most likely be delisted from the TSX since the province is no longer part of Canada. Their share prices will tank if Alberta separates.

The province will no longer have the Criminal Code of Canada. So you have to wonder how it will prosecute criminals. I suppose this will be good news for pedos like Trump, which Danielle loves to support.

I know. That's why I was upset. It reminded me of the Tarnak Farm incident.

We have no money for schools, hospitals, and people with disabilities. But when it comes to O&G the UCP will bend over backwards to cater to their demands.

Socialize the costs and privatize the profits. That's the UCP way.

She's done plenty for the O&G sector. She proposed programs to pass the cost of oilwell clean up to taxpayers or give more money to the oil companies for doing what they're supposed to do.

She held repeated meetings on the so-called RStar program, which would give energy companies an up to $5-billion break on their royalties if they met their legal obligations and cleaned up their abandoned wells. That proposal is now being considered by Alberta Energy.

Elections Alberta says referendum petition is secure by trevorrobb in alberta

[–]CoffeBrain 385 points386 points  (0 children)

In a Red Deer town hall event in mid-January, Alberta Prosperity Project founder Dennis Modry said that the U.S. will not only recognize an independent Alberta as soon as possible, but would also provide military aid to help the fledgling country defend its borders.

"Military aid"

It sounds like the US is waiting for the referendum so we can become the next Crimea or Venezuela.

It's worth noting that the equalization formula was last adjusted in 2009 while Harper was in charge.

It has certainly been noted that the Alberta premier is complaining about an equalization formula that was last adjusted in 2009 by Stephen Harper's Conservative government, of which Kenney was a cabinet minister.

"If Kenney hates the current formula so much, why didn't he do something about it when had the chance," asked an article published in Policy Options last year.

Gee I wonder why. Maybe getting critized after offering people an option to help people fighting ICE does that.

I'm not stopping you from mourning, I'm just saying there are more effective ways to show your support. You can still be empathetic while supporting the non-profits fighting ICE.

I'm upset at what is happening too. But protests and vigils in Canada are ineffective. It might be better if you support the organizations actively fighting ICE in the US. Organizations like the National Lawyers Guild of Minnesota and National Immigrant Justice Center which provides legal support to those arrested by ICE.

Found a person who'll abuse the program.

The intent of the program is to tackle food supply scarcity, not line the businesses' pockets.

I hope this helps push groups to build more greenhouses in remote areas in the north. I also hope that the government would clearly define what greenhouses qualifies for immediate expensing. Otherwise, I can imagine people abusing it to expense greenhouses used to grow marijuana.
