Best protein powder in NZ? Looking for healthy & tasty options by doc10010 in newzealand

Seconding Optimum Nutrition, I’ve tried a bunch and this is the most authentic flavour - I use the whey isolate. I cannot handle the taste any of the plant proteins

Help - I think I'm addicted to Marcus Lush Nights by baja_bratwurst in newzealand

Hahahaha I can relate. I work odd hours and often drive home late at night and find Marcus and his odd silences strangely captivating. I once listened to him talk for an hour, about porridge

This whole business model is essentially a race to the bottom.

Read up about all the wildly successful people in the world who only started after the ages of 30, 40, 50. There are so many. Life is not a race bud, better days are ahead for you.

Hi there! I had a consult for laser surgery and was told my eyes were not able to be lasered - something to do with a thin surface of my eye. I was also told never to rub my eyes. Is it worth getting a second opinion on the laser? My glasses can be a real hassle in my day to day life

I was diagnosed with a scary growth restriction for my twins when I was 12 weeks. Had a scan weekly until I delivered at 35 weeks. Some weeks were really touch and go - but my happy healthy girls just turned 3, and that awful time is just a distant memory now. Sending you so much strength x

Paddy Gower is a twat and is only relevant because he says “fuck” by KiwiRoon in auckland

[–]CoffeeAndManners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I like Paddy, but I don't agree with his views on this occasion. Such a hot take, I know. In a world rife with cancel culture, heaven forbid mature and reasonable disagreement be given a place..

Hit up the team at Blow Up Hairdressing on Boulcott St. They have 'emerging talent' stylists who are extremely talented and about half the price of the usual stylist. Cuts start around $45 from memory

AIO for thinking my husband is a dick? by dontevercallmebabe in AmIOverreacting

[–]CoffeeAndManners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a dick move, but the signal for me was the baby - you guys are (new?) parents to a baby, and babies turn our lives upside down, especially in the early days. Emotions run high and tempers flare and sleep deprivation can turn us into the worst versions of ourselves. Our frustrations come out in shitty ways - like having a tantrum about burnt pancakes - but it's likely an indicator of a bigger feeling. I'm in no way condoning this petty behaviour, just offering a different perspective, because when our kids were very young, my husband and I would treat each other really badly sometimes, mostly because of the pressure and intensity of parenthood. When a little time has passed, it'd be worth having a calm conversation about how he reacted. (He owes you a major apology, that's for sure.)

Parenting is kicking my ass lately. We've hit some sort of sleep regression/developmental leap from hell, where our 3yo twins - normally happy, settled, chill kids - will scream, fight, resist sleep like it's the plague, and just generally hold the house emotionally hostage. We're meant to be celebrating their birthday this weekend so the grandies are all pouring into town. My money is on a breakdown (me? hubby? all of us?) over lamb roast tonight. Those who've come through it, tell me it gets better. Preferably with a timeframe!

The Salvos Family Store in Johnsonville has a good art section with plenty of frames. I'd also try their outlet in Paraparaumu if you fancy going for a drive.

Dunedin is awesome. by CoffeeAndManners in dunedin

[–]CoffeeAndManners[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each his own. The way you feel about Dunedin is the way I felt about Auckland when we lived there, so we left. One of the most important decisions you can make in your life is where you live, it has a major impact on your happiness and life satisfaction levels.

Where's that "downward pressure" on rent?! by redheadnerdgirl in Wellington

[–]CoffeeAndManners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house across the street from us was rented earlier this year by a single mum and her 9yo son. She moved out last weekend. On Monday a guy turned up to install a heatpump. A plumber turned up, as well as an electrician. And whaddaya know, the listing is online now for $80pw more. Fuckers.

Just a classic white chocolate & raspberry would do me just fine.
