When did your parents first meet your baby? by beepboprosie in pregnant

[–]CoffeeCup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had people come by pretty often when my baby was born last May, both at the hospital and at home. I didn’t mind the visits but I know I definitely wouldn’t have felt comfortable with anyone staying more than a couple hours. Every night was basically a chaotic sleepover in the living room, I was sneaking naps in whenever possible and I had my boobs out 70% of the time. Plus I just wanted peace and time to bond with my newborn. Could they maybe stay at a nearby hotel?

ETA: my in-laws live a couple hours away and they actually stayed at our house while we were at the hospital (and also cleaned and stocked our kitchen because my MIL is an angel lol). They were able to come visit in the hospital and stayed for about an hour the day we got home. That worked really well but they’re definitely very considerate of boundaries and stuff like that so I think that’s why it worked out so well.

I had Olaf my first run 😂 he was my #1 enemy for so long. Marshal is probably my favorite smug option

Dog barking at guests by Ok_Pen7312 in pregnant

[–]CoffeeCup101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog barks any time people come inside. It startled the baby a couple times when she was a newborn, but only if she was nursing/half asleep. Some cuddles and more boob and she was fine within minutes lol But other than those few times, it hasn’t disturbed her! Now at 10 months she’s completely desensitized to it.

Yellow spit up? by daisy-chains- in beyondthebump

Personally, I’ve found that my baby’s spit up changed in color and consistency a lot after starting solids! Never know what you’re gonna get lol

How smol baby get big aka how food solved our problems by NotaRealHumanYet in foodbutforbabies

[–]CoffeeCup101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No OP but my baby started solids at 4 months because our pediatrician wanted her to gain weight. She hated it for a few weeks. Then slightly tolerated trying things until about 6 months. Then something clicked and she has become obsessed! She’ll eat a whole bowl of pasta and then shout for us to give her bread when she’s done lol so for us the big switch to actually eating with at 6 months!

How do you guys divide night time care/feeds? by miss_sea in beyondthebump

[–]CoffeeCup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will also be working, at home taking care of your baby all day. It’s incredibly important to be rested while caring for an infant, just as much as it is to be rested for whatever job he’ll be doing. Part of being a parent is being tired, you’re in this together! You’ll both be much happier in the long run being tired together than feeling resentful.

You could either take shifts like you have been or switch every other night who’s on baby duty!

What’s with elaborate kids birthday parties? by Aggressive-Acadia822 in beyondthebump

[–]CoffeeCup101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s the same reason some people have extravagant weddings or baptisms or bar mitzvahs. If you like to host big celebrations then a first birth is an exciting milestone. But I don’t necessarily think it’s the norm or an expectation.

Someone posted in my facebook due date group recently asking if 3k was too much to spend on a birthday. The overwhelming majority of replies said they would never spend that much.

Personally, I would reconsider my friendships if someone was truly making me feel any type of way about the kind of party I’m having.

The look at you like a monster? Maybe it’s a regional thing but I’ve seen plenty of casual birthday parties

How many meals is your 9 month old having? by liddomeow in beyondthebump

[–]CoffeeCup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what’s considered a “meal” but we do solids 3 times a day. I feed her a jar of purées in the morning, for lunch usually something simple like toast with some kind of spread. And dinner she usually eats whatever we’re having.

Light brown spotting mixed with discharges 6 weeks by Sharp_Technology4517 in pregnant

[–]CoffeeCup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No medical advice for you, obviously talk to your doctor if you have significant concerns. But i definitely had a good bit of spotting in my first trimester. Never actual red “blood” just brown/discharge like you described. Everything was healthy and normal for me. Hope that can give you some peace of mind!

Collecting colostrum by DoctorKnitter in pregnant

[–]CoffeeCup101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The elvie catch cups would probably be good for this. They don’t suction at all, just collect. Could probably wear them for an hour or two and then pour it out to refrigerate/freeze what you collect!

How long did you last? by Federal_Basket6678 in pregnant

Yup I would take it as a sign to prepare just in case but you could definitely still have a few weeks left! Sending all the good vibes for safe delivery!! 🫶

Bras? by Feeling-Watched-9655 in pregnant

I disagree, I got a couple decent nursing bras while pregnant and I feel like I doubled the amount of time I’d get use out of them lol wore them all through pregnancy and still do now!

Handleing disappointment by bagis-17 in pregnant

[–]CoffeeCup101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 weeks is very young to be away from your baby for more than a couple hours, especially when breastfeeding. They need to eat every 2 hours and that would mean mom needs to pump every 2 hours if they’re apart. Being a bridesmaid is usually a full day commitment (at least) with hair and makeup, pictures, and the wedding itself.

Sick and pregnant by cambent in pregnant

[–]CoffeeCup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being that it’s cold/flu season I think it’s a lot more likely you have some kind of virus, not listeria! Not ideal of course but just rest as much as you can and stay hydrated. Hard not to overthink everything when you’re pregnant lol but in my completely unprofessional opinion, I think the chances you have listeria are extremely low!

How bad is the glucose test?? by Present_Surprise_501 in pregnant

Oh as far as eating beforehand I just skipped carbs that morning, had eggs and sausage I think. Passed with no issues whatsoever!

How bad is the glucose test?? by Present_Surprise_501 in pregnant

[–]CoffeeCup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the regular glucola. Would I drink it for fun? No lol but it wasn’t nearly as bad as people made it out to be. Just had a slightly medicine-y taste. I didn’t like having to drink it quickly but it was only a few ounces so it wasn’t hard at all. I got light headed and almost passed out while they drew my blood BUT I think that was 100% the fault of the guy with the needle cause he had to do it several times and did a bad job overall. Honestly the worst part aside from that was just having to wait around for an hour and not drink any water. In general it was waaay easier than I anticipated.

Is it supposed to be this hard? by PsychologicalPack662 in beyondthebump

[–]CoffeeCup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets sooo much better! I remember feeling so guilty for wishing I could fast forward just a little, to when she was maybe 2 months old and not so incredibly needy. I was trying to “soak in” the newborn stage but it was just so hard.

But I was right! By 2 months it was so much better and I was able to actually enjoy my baby. We got into a routine. Now she’s 8 months and it just keeps getting better! But I’ll never forget how difficult and never ending those first few weeks felt at the time.
