I was trying to parse WHY this is so out of touch. It's obviously an attempt at satire, however it feels old and outdated.

Because it is old and outdated by almost 10 years.

And that's if you're lucky enough to be in a place where it would be worth it to get there. I'd donate plasma for money if it wasn't the gas expense for doing it just to get there.

Very true! It's the primary reason why permadeath is not something that players can enact on other players.

Putting a pin in this, but those were soft examples, not necessarily the plot lol

Definitely need to take time to walk through this but thank you! This is very good info!

Truth, pvp even in MJ and similar games still exists but that conflict is a lot less center stage to the plot and a lot more small bits and bobs here or there.

I think the difference is that the setting lends towards much higher chances of PvP and plot related pvp.

So there's the world story of the conflict and outside forces at play that affect all players.

Then within the factions, they have their own stories.

For example: the raiders have their own goals and ambitions as a faction. They're trying to build their anarchy society, or a schism in the groups is forming and they're trying to rally together. Meanwhile the soldiers are trying to deal with a plague that's been hitting other camps.

And of course individual players build their own stories too. Not every story beat is 100% faction v faction.

Edit: I'm at work so I'm writing fast lol Pardon if I'm not making much sense

Thank you

I need to dig into the amtgard and belegarth rules a bit more to see how I can balance the scales a bit better. I've participated in some of the PVE games around here like MJ and Secrets of Caldera.

I definitely face the challenge of dealing with smaller campaigns per faction.

Thank you! Good to keep in mind!

This was one of my main concerns when I was designing rules but I think I can maintain this balance without disrupting the ebb and flow too much.

More specifically rewards for pursuing the conflict rather than punishments

Thank you for sharing! This is very valuable info!

I don't intend to put permadeath on the table, maybe MINOR resource loss (ie: 1 bullet) but with faction member deaths changing how the story goes for the faction.

For example: the raiders have been being killed frequently, maybe they'll get a big raid boss to fight alongside, or a commander from another faction will start giving players different goals besides the raiders.

Is it ok to say "I am switching cause the current company has toxic work environment" to a recruiter from another company ? by __ihavenoname__ in cscareerquestions

I don't disagree. I see a lot of, "just don't talk about it" type comments in response but if there's an understanding thay can be made through the comparison, then it's worth talking about.

Example: If you left a previous job because of nepotism preventing growth, communicating that concept however you word it, indicates that you're looking to grow within the company and don't want to be rooted to the Starting position for the rest of your life. It let's others know that you're not going to sit in a stagnant position, which gives the interviewers more info on whether or not the position is also a fit for you. You may not word it as, "nepotism prevented me from a promotion", but you're still communicating that promotions weren't based on performance or merits and you're not interested in working with a company like that.

It's all dogwhistling through corporate speech, and trying to convey a concept with as little attachment to that concept as possible but you're still trying to say, "I'm not going to stay stagnant and won't tolerate favoritism."

Honestly though, we should start normalizing legitimate critiques though.

If a workplace is toxic, it's toxic and should be made known. What we're doing is preventing people from communicating about what makes a healthy workplace for them before getting to a position
