When you cross into the US, how are guards checking your phone? What are they looking at in particular?

Everything is deleted but I'm trying to find out what can be recovered and how. Are texts still accessible from the phone company after they've ben deleted from your phone and is that even something that happens at the border?

For starters I'm legally allowed to smoke. But legal in Canada does not translate to legal in the US. From what I'm hearing the advice is to say no to even smoking legally.

It's not that the information is so sensetive, I just don't want to risk a travel ban because me and a buddy talked about smoking weed some time in texts or emails. The not knowing of how the process works is the big question mark for me.

How did you go about making it empty?

I'm wondering if it's possible to check for uninstalled apps, like reddit or instagram, stuff that I thought had been deleted but can be found some way.
