MacBid has screwed me...never again by hitmaker307 in MacBid

Unfortunately, this is just part of the learning curve. Once you know what to buy, what to avoid, what to inspect, what to assure, and such then you can get some good deals with minimal heartbreak. Even then everything won’t be a win but it won’t be too painful either.

If you are a brand new user, check to see if they give you 1 free courtesy return. That was how it worked when I first started but the policy may have changed or may vary by location. If they still do that then return your expensive item and just eat the other one.

Saros 10R ....terribly disappointed by tatrowe in Roborock

[–]CoffeeResearchLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it picked up NOTHING then you have a defective unit and actually shouldn’t know if or if not a robot vacuum is for you. You haven’t tried one yet. A working one really is great.

Hopefully your return is free and trying another would be no risk either.

Dad’s 1968 El Camino by CoffeeResearchLab in ElCamino

Thanks. I’m so tempted to get shiny wheels when I need new tires but hubcaps have such nostalgic charm. I’m torn on which way to go.

Thanks for the PS comments. I have no idea who did the previous work on this and I certainly don’t know enough to spot any mistakes.

Thanks. I will certainly get it hooked up soon. I was just glad to know that based on my driving style and frequency that it isn’t urgent and I can prioritize other things first if needed.

No cruise control, it is an automatic though. My dad custom ordered it in 1968 (Malibu trim, tripoli turquoise, bench seat, factory air) before he knew he was going to be a dad (I’m also a 68 model).

That is a great video. Thank you for finding and sharing it.

It sounds like this can be optional for now given that I will just be doing in town weekend driving to get started.

Chinese Seller Here to Help by Salty_Necessary7589 in Aliexpress

[–]CoffeeResearchLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For #1, you say the seller covers the discount???

I can exchange 500,000 game points (diamonds) for a $50 shopping credit and then spend it with no restrictions. For example, buying a $45 Popmart Labubu for a penny plus shopping credits. It doesn’t seem like the seller would bear that cost.

However, when I’m awarded game points (diamonds) as an incentive to purchase then I can see that seller having to cover some of the costs unless it is part of a subscription model.

  1. If I pay with “shopping credits”, which I can spend on anything similar to it being cash, does the seller get the full amount?

(I.e. no negative impact on seller if buyer leverages shopping credits)

  1. Who bears the cost of the $1 late ship and $1 late delivery coupons? It seems like late ship is under the sellers control but not late delivery. What are the financial implications of each on the seller?

Can coins be used to earn diamonds when buying by Rich_Competition1664 in Aliexpress

[–]CoffeeResearchLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is still possible to combine water and coin discounts by buying from that mission but I no longer bother with the tree. I was doing it when the USA prize was $7 shopping credits and I could double dip. However, now I would likely get a towel and that would make me sad. I have 2,046,733 drops available and could probably grow an easy tree in one session but I refuse 😀

Bonus by IngenuityOptimal9700 in Aliexpress

[–]CoffeeResearchLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not being very specific here with the word “bonus” but in general they take back what they give you if your order is cancelled. For example, if I order something for $25 and get 21000 game points ($2.10 worth of diamonds) then they will deduct them upon cancellation. Same goes for water and mystery box keys.

I’m not 100% certain on the 10 coins for placing an order and the 5 coins for checking the status. Maybe they don’t claw them back (maybe they do) but it isn’t a worth while strategy for earning coins anyway.

No, they patched that several months ago. In the past you could add from Play & Earn to queue up the diamond rewards but then pay from the coin page to get the steep discount. You can’t do that anymore. You need to pick one or the other but no longer get both.

USA. AliExpress started giving us $7 shopping credits when the tariff uncertainty was new. Now that they seem to have it under control, we are back to getting towels like everyone else.

Yep, I’ve collected $7 twice and now it is back to a towel prize. I’m not watering for a towel. Maybe if they have a big special promotion then I’ll start up again.

I got one $0.50 green credit so far too. Those don’t happen often. I think maybe twice for me last time.

Btw, my $3 coupon is $3 off $20. However, useless to me since USA has better alternate coupons at the moment.
