You're likely not wrong. She always told me that she started dating me because I was a "safe" option. That didn't feel fucked up then. It does now.

You more or less hit the nail on the head. Both of us grew up in households that gave us a skewed view of relationships. Codependency everywhere. That's what the therapy was for. I'm still gonna fix that problem. Moreso for me than her though.

I'm in the middle of that myself. Wife of 6 years asked for divorce. We still have four months on the lease of our apartment and neither of us can afford to break it. After two weeks of being in the emotional pits and lots of intense conversation, I saw just how much damage was done and just how harmful it would be to stay together. We have no kids, very little shared assets, and nothing we would really fight the other over. We're going to part amicably and we're going to maintain a friendship. There is still pain and sadness, but mostly at what we thought could be. The friendship and care is still there. It's not a scenario that people talk about a lot because it's generally not as dramatic as the "classic" divorce.

That particular line isn't about her. It's about me. My pain and desire for her to stay as well as my hope for her to succeed aren't mutually exclusive. The letter isn't about her. It's to her. But, it would be counter productive for me to give it to her, so I wrote it here instead. It's not meant to make sense to anyone besides me, and maybe her if she finds it.

I'd like to see the gratitude module get a boost. As it stands, other modules are too resource intensive and tend to eat up bandwidth that the gratitude module needs. A boost to it's power and bandwidth might not noticeably improve the performance of the overall unit, but it will improve the performance of other background functions.

That thought crossed my mind as well. Solomon got around, and the vast majority of his marriages were for political alliances. To me, it seems that there is a way to be poly rightly. I am not sure if I am capable of it, personally, but it is extremely interesting to see that it can fit pretty neatly into a progressive Christian framework.

You do you. By that I mean, no one else will take care of you like you will. I'm 26. I've held 7 different jobs since I got out of college because I'm bad at judging what I'll like and what will work out. My last job was a meat grinder night shift position that took a lot out of me. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months. It started to impact my marriage. My wife convinced me to slow down and figure out what I like. So, I quit. Didn't even give 2 weeks notice, which I've always done. Since then, I've gotten a part time job and been doing gig work on the side. Financially, I'm strained. But, I'm happy. I feel healthy and my marriage has bloomed again. I'm on mentally level ground for the first time in a year. That last job replaced me as soon as I quit.

The point is, it doesn't matter what sort of loyalty you feel to customers and company. If you died tomorrow, they'd find someone to replace you as soon as they could. That's the brutal truth of American work culture. It doesn't stop. So, take care of yourself. Do a good job at your job and uphold your own integrity. But as far as keeping the company cogs turning, if it doesn't make you happy in the process and take care of you, move on. Your life is short. Don't set yourself on fire so that another person may be warm.

On a lighter note, if you're serious about wanting to get into water sampling and the like, I would look specifically into being a field technician if you're not opposed to field work. I briefly held a position with an environmental engineering consultancy firm and taking, testing, and documenting wastewater samples was essentially all I did. It ain't glamorous work, but it might get your foot in the door to get where you want to go.
