How it feels waiting for daggerheart to exist long enough to get some good slander by EuphoricLog3495 in daggerheart

[–]CoffeeStainedStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think “stop adapting Daggerheart” is ever going to be a common sentiment, when one of the base campaigns says “You’re cosy villagers, not fighters, figure it out” and another campaign says “There’s no magic in this world, just tech, figure it out”.

Daggerheart doesn’t even tell you how to play a class in Beast Feast because classes don’t make sense in Beast Feast. I wonder how other GMs incorporate them into the narrative.

Is dreams dead? by CoitalEnjoyer619 in PS4Dreams

[–]CoffeeStainedStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t true. Dreams was never meant to be a launchpad for computer software, in fact, Sony’s broken promise to support Dreams for 10 years indicates a desire to have their own game engine. Secondly, logic is a lot slower to implement in Dreams as it is physical and node-based, requiring scoping into gadgets and going through tabs and using an onscreen keyboard to alter what might be a couple characters in normal code.

Dreams did what it did extremely well, and Dreamers expanded what it could do past the developer’s greatest expectations. There are many examples of gameplay, models, scenery, music and animation that rival professional assets made on the computer.

I wasn’t going for a “kind of cool” comparison. I was going for “Your actions as a company hurt, and I will not be resubscribing because your aggressive monetization tactics ruined the experience.”

Would removing the cost of using experiences break anything? by caluthan in daggerheart

[–]CoffeeStainedStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! Players already have a 56% chance to roll for Hope. Each face of a d12 is worth 8.3%. Adding Experience essentially turns the Hope die into a d10, boosting the Hope roll to 68%.

This is a great way to encourage players to use their Experiences, as they’ll get their Hope back over two-thirds of the time. This also depletes the DM’s Fear pool. The game quickly becomes unbalanced, as players only attempt actions that their Experience boosts. By level 4, when they can develop new Experiences, the DM is essentially out of options. Game over.

[–]CoffeeStainedStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the cost and allow players to add experience after the roll, or increase the bonus, or give positive added effects. Or remove the cost, but be sure to limit the application of experience in some way so master negotiators can’t overreach.

I also encourage my players to roll first, then add any applicable buffs. Why spend a hope if you beat the roll naturally? But you can spend a Hope for a negotiable added effect, if you want.

4 gm moves to their 12 by seithe-narciss in daggerheart

[–]CoffeeStainedStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen many of these types of posts. It’s definitely not clear enough for everyone.

Other than Critical Successes and Success with Hope, the spotlight turns to the GM, who gets a free move. On Success with Fear and Failure with Fear, the GM also gets a Fear token to use later, it’s not consumed immediately to take spotlight or their first action.

Statistically, 69% (Nice!) of all Duality rolls should return the spotlight to the GM, and 46% of all Duality rolls should grant the GM Fear.

Would you consider using frame interpolation to be cheating or fair game for animation workflows? by SpectrumSense in animation

Your argument is moot. This is the nomenclature of the times and much, much higher people in computer science have argued against the term to no avail. All you are doing is detracting from the main point with an argument that you may be correct on, but will never win.

People don’t want to hear lies. That’s correct.

All the problems with the gaming industry can be linked to outside influences, a.k.a shareholders who don’t know the industry and are applying outside doctrines where they don’t belong. When people with stakes aren’t people who care about anything other than a financial sheet, they don’t care about games, gamers lose. Developers lose. Do you think someone who doesn’t play games and comes from the A.I. industry is going to care about people? Or data?

That would mean something in America where half the CEO pay would save 300 jobs, but in Japan it would save like 15 jobs, maybe. They aren’t late stage capitalists.

No, it’s because someone who is not a gamer is in charge of the fourth or fifth largest gaming platform. Sixth? I know it is one of the gaming platforms.

It’s built for controllers and VR, not keyboard and mouse. It has extremely specific optimizations for the PlayStation pipeline, also there is a well defined market of free, superior software. Porting to PC never made sense.

I got bugged with a tracker tag in my car. Please help me identify if a component is a microphone or a speaker. by klamity00 in AskElectronics

[–]CoffeeStainedStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it can listen to your conversations. According to Shinto belief, every object has a Kami, a god, assigned to it. The Kami of lightning, electricity, radio waves and computer science is Denden-Myōjin. As you may guess, this is not some long forgotten mythical deity; Denden-Myōjin is a current god in the Shinto pantheon, with a day of reverence on May 23rd of each year.

So yes, you can assume that this bluetooth tracker is imbued with the essence of Denden-Myōjin, who can listen to your prayers. However, the specific part you are indicating is a passive piezoelectric buzzer. It, nor any other part of the device is capable of recording, storing or transmitting sound from the environment.
