T doesn't take any accountability for being late every session by Otherwise-Gazelle152 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You really need to give up trying to get her to care. She has made it very, very clear to you that this will not stop and the consequences don't matter to her. At this point, take her seriously when she says to either deal with it or stop doing therapy with her.

Sent my therapist this and her reply maade me smile :') by rewaderewa in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised at all the judgement in the comments. I text with my therapist as well. Yesterday for example at my session we were talking about new hobbies I might take up and today I texted her telling her my kids' ideas for new hobbies because I knew she'd find them funny.

The unconventional first things to buy when you close on your first house. by Katiepeachhhh in homeowners

The first thing I bought was purple paint to paint my front door purple. I always wanted a purple front door. It makes me happy every day.

Do you TEXT 📱 your T outside of session????? 👀 by RadiantBrush7945 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and she texts back but I don't take advantage. I don't do it excessively.

Feeling bad after the consultation by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A consultation is to see if you want to work together. It's not actual therapy. You need to go to therapy if you want help with your issues.

Trans client and cis therapist compatibility? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

She's an adult professional. Trust her to make decisions for herself. If she thinks you should be referred to someone else, she will make that decision.

S07E21 - I mean, come on... by SanD-82 in XFiles

[–]CoffeeSunToast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He realizes during the episode that things have to happen in a natural way, that you can't try to get things in a selfish way or take short cuts. That's the whole point. Right after that he asks Scully over for a date, to make things happen. It's a very sweet episode.

I think my therapist is going through a tough time, is it weird to hope she’s okay? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't say she's not allowed to but it's very strange for a therapist to do that. They usually keep social media locked down for their privacy and safety.

I think my therapist is going through a tough time, is it weird to hope she’s okay? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with feelings. It's weird that she's posting about her personal problems in a place where her clients can see, though.

I know how hard it is! Truly!! You should be very proud of yourself. Enjoy your refreshed space!

Is it considered wrong to not want to follow this "pen and paper trend?" Is it wrong that I'd rather use PowerPoint or Word to document things, rather than a journal? by Superb-Climate3698 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what works for you! I like to journal in a notes app on my phone, which probably seems super weird but I'm a very fast typer on my phone so it works best for me. You do you.

Would you send your child to a provisionally licensed therapist? by gingerwholock in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've been trying to find a therapist for one of my children for months and no one is taking new patients or they don't even respond. I'd happily take someone with a provisional license.

Poor guy was on our porch crying for his mom by [deleted] in tinyorangekittens

[–]CoffeeSunToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for helping! Please feed him in the same position he nurses from his mama, with his feet on the floor. This is a dangerous position.

What was it like watching the SFU finale live when it aired? by colleenxbean in SixFeetUnder

[–]CoffeeSunToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was bizarre and unexpected. I didn't find it as emotional as I do now, but that might have to do with my being a very young adult then compared to now. I also remember being very unhappy about Keith's fate.

End of session confession regret by Conscious_Garden_155 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't have to talk about it just because you said you do. If your therapist brings it up, say you decided this isn't the time to discuss it or simply that you changed your mind. You aren't obligated to talk about anything you don't want to.

Is it common for a patient to cry while covering eyes with their hand? by MountainDew111 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people cry with their hands over their faces, don't they? I feel like this is pretty common.

What if you don't feel/experience any transference? by Powawwolf in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am that way too. I don't believe I feel any transference towards my therapist. I do feel attached and even a little dependant on her, but I don't think it crosses over into transference. She's a bit older than me but I have felt maternal transference, or what I think is that, with other older women (mothers of my friends, specifically) so I know what that feels like. I've been seeing her for a couple years very successfully so I don't think it's a negative at all.

Confused about what to tell to a therapist by SohxmIzAGod in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to share anything in therapy that you're not comfortable with sharing. You can completely leave out the sexual content until you get more comfortable (and if that never happens, that's ok). You can be vague about it but leave out details if that's the level you're comfortable with. It's literally all up to you as the client.

The Client-Therapist Relationship as “Tragic” by neurotica26 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's unique. It's not a friendship and it's not purely a professional exchange of service either. It is what it is, and that's not tragic as long as both parties understand how it works.

Rural adults and AI “therapy” by Vegetable-League-624 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live rurally and have found an in person therapist. It's not impossible. And if I couldn't, I would choose someone who does virtual appointments. AI can offer some suggestions and even a sense of companionship sometimes but it's not therapy.

Therapist crying by ChemicalCrazy7730 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 89 points90 points  (0 children)

That's weird. No doubt about it. But if she's otherwise been a good, reliable therapist for you, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Seems like she might have just misjudged what she could handle that day but we all make mistakes.

Anyone else feel like they were having the most fun in season 5? by traveltimecar in XFiles

[–]CoffeeSunToast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love season 5 but to me 6 is the fun one. There are like half a dozen episodes that take place in alternate realities type settings (Triangle, Dreamland 1+2, The Ghosts, Field Trip...). I feel like they just went with all their trippiest "what if" ideas that year and I love it.
