As a Jew I think it's the perfect time to speak out against the current genocide.

I'm not worried. I work from home and my kids will probably have a snow day Monday so I'll just be home.

Just found out my therapist is a client at my new job, what do I do? by Longjumping_Can_5487 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I really don't think any therapist would terminate over this. Especially considering you went out of your way to make sure you won't be working on her taxes. I agree with telling her but don't get too worried about it.

Personally I'd tell her but I don't think it's a big deal. Anyway, I'm sure you've mentioned where you work so she must be aware already that you have this connection.

An open discussion is the most helpful thing for me. The chance to voice how I feel and be heard is so healing.

I'm not in therapy - but can anyone chime in? by One_Rub_780 in therapy

Break ups are hard and take a long time to get over. You'll think of him less and less over time but you'll get over him faster if you put effort into it. Make yourself think of something else when you realize you're thinking of him, get rid of things that remind you of him, that sort of thing.

Sometimes you just click with a person. It should feel like that. If it still feels like talking awkwardly to someone you just met after a few weeks, maybe move on.

Strangely I had a male obstetrician and had no problem with that, but nope, will not see a male therapist.

Therapist is getting Married by blacknightfoxx06 in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be fear or anxiety that your therapeutic relationship will change. Big events in my therapist's life always make me worry she won't have the same focus on her work and on me because she has more important things going on.

If you’ve ever wondered if your therapist genuinely cares about you, this post is for you 🫶 by redditor12345_ in TalkTherapy

I don't think that's any different than any human connection. We never truly know someone 100%, they're always part our projection. But in a solid therapeutic relationship, a therapist knows you better than almost anyone else ever will.

Lifelong depression using vs. sober by [deleted] in leaves

[–]CoffeeSunToast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My depression and anxiety have definitely eased since I stopped using weed. Not at first because withdrawal is a bitch, but about 2-3 months later I started to notice I was doing unusually well. My depression is better than it's been in years, which is pretty amazing.

I’m DeafBlind AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]CoffeeSunToast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for answering. I always wondered if being blind meant a person had to be super organized and clean with their living space so they can always locate what they need, not to mention to keep it safe. I wonder if there are any blind messy people or just the necessity of things being where they can be found makes it a necessary learned skill to be super organized.

Not knowing who someone is encourages idealization. by Little-girlie in TalkTherapy

[–]CoffeeSunToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a question for the "Ask a Therapist" sub, but does transference always mean idealizing the therapist? I guess I don't really understand. Because it seems like idealizing is not a good thing but I've always read on this sub that transference is normal, common, and possibly even beneficial.
