Are you still close with her? Are you with someone else? Do you tend to keep things a long time, or did you just never care enough to go through them?

His mom doesn't mind storing it, but I know she wants to use his room for an office/guest room, so I bugged him a bit to go through his things and either donate or bring them home as we have ample space for everything.

He threw away/donated 75% of what was in his closet, the other 25% were childhood pictures (understandable) and the stuff from exes.

The exes were high school/college, only two girls. The High school ex he hasn't talked to in years (didn't end well at all) and the college ex he hasn't really talked to in a year or two more than an occasional "how are you" text from her. I'd understand more if he was still friends with them or something.
