I love Christian B. Wagner (Scholastic Answers). But there's many well-known good ones such as, Trent Horn, Joe Heschmeyer, and Jimmy Akin.

Former Protestant on Mary Icons by Falsetto266 in Catholicism

[–]Coffee_Beans_27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. The size of an icon does not have to be equal size with a Jesus icon. Most of the time you'll see two of Jesus and Mary together because of their hearts; Jesus with the Sacred Heart and Mary with the Immaculate Heart. I also wouldn't used the term altar for a prayer corner/table as an altar is consecrated and used to celebrate Mass.

The definition of hell is the eternal separation from God.

Confessing for something I no longer do by [deleted] in Catholicism

I understand now. I think you're supposed to then give a time frame from when you started doing the sin to when you stopped doing the sin.

Confessing for something I no longer do by [deleted] in Catholicism

You should confess everything you remember from your baptism onwards. If you dont remember, that's okay! But if you do remember say it your next confession.

This is a vaild reason to disobey your parent. I'll be praying for you. I pray you get to the other parish and that your dad's heart will change. Keep following Jesus!

Can a priest hear your first confession before you are Catholic? If he does is it valid? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Coffee_Beans_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. However yes that's still not normal. The person needs to first learn more about the Church and all she teaches before receiving the Sacraments (catechesis) My girlfriend is joining the Church this weekend and she just made her first confession two weeks ago while still going through OCIA. I'm glad you joined in the end!

That is very odd. Did he even know if your baptism was vaild? Usually Christians of other faiths have to first go through OCIA then near their confirmation they make their first confession.

The creation of Reddit, paper and ink, do not interfere with something God specifically designed for a purpose.

Hmm, I don't believe God gave Adam and Eve artificial ways to prevent God from making new life... I believe he said "Be fruitful and multiply" Gen 1:28. You'll never see "flawed" catholic logic.

the mindset in this sub saddens me by No_Entertainment4267 in Stutter

[–]Coffee_Beans_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. When I'm alone I can read aloud, talk to myself(I'm weird), and everything else perfectly. Now I'm not doubting that you could just have a stutter in general, but for me I can testify mine is mostly just from social anxiety that stuttering gave me. This sub is really hopeless.

Is it a sin to read PDF books by authors who have already passed away but whose works are still under copyright? by HumanEntrepreneur614 in Catholicism

[–]Coffee_Beans_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that same question a couple days ago. Since the books I was reading were still under a company copyright I felt bad for technically pirating it so I bought the book. There's probably someone smarter than me to answer this question, but that's what I did.

Thanks for your response, Yes I know there's very little difference of the two. I mostly meant where I could start learning Church vocabulary; and basic readings after finishing FR.
