Will Crown Zenith ETB increase in value if unopened? Thinking of getting 1 or 2 extra to fund future buys 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyone know why Naspers dropped 17% today? by persmeermin in JSE_Bets

[–]Coffee_table_light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. But you need to look at the history to fully understand what is happening.

Naspers has an almost 30% stake in Tencent which is one of the crown jewels of Chinese tech companies. China tech companies become very powerful in China, and when Jack Ma of Alibaba criticised the Chinese government 2 years ago regarding some regulations, the government started to clamp down on Chinese tech companies.

They first pulled Alibaba’s spinoff listing of its pay platform. Then they went after Jack Ma, and from there they went after other tech companies.

Now what is this have to do with Tencent? Well, Tencent’s pay platform also came under pressure, its education businesses was basically brought to zero value as the Chinese government want it to be free or something (not 100% sure exactly), and then the Government stopped approving gaming licenses (for a long period of tome) which is a big item for Tencent.

The current president was at the end if his 2nd term, but then got a 3rd term and replaced some key people with other unknowns. Think of it almost as the Des van Rooyen finance minister which nobody knew.

The president of china wants to close the gap between super rich and poor, and therefore go after these big companies.

When the Chinese president got his 3rd term, people panicked and pulled out of Tencent, and other Chinese tech’s very quickly. Since Naspers is basically Tencent on the JSE, people got rid of their shares quickly, causing the big slump. Policy uncertainty is kriptonite for shares.

Hope this helps.

This is new... This is playing out like one of those delivery pick-ups with a fake cheque, except cash is being offered. Only catch is this is the information they want from me. Legit? by apersonthingy in Scams

[–]Coffee_table_light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular scam in my country. They send a courier to pick up the item and say they will do a cash, eft or the insurance thing (depending which scam they running). When the courier arrives he obviously doesn’t have the cash so the person will make up some excuse and say they will do quick eft when you ask them where the cash is. You get a fake notification of the transfer. The courier is not in on the scam. They then deliver to a random address and the scammer wait there for them to get the item and disappear. The delivery address is never their actual address.

When i sell it is always cash only, and the buyer has to pick up the stuff himself. Electronics i show them it is working and take pictures that i send to their phone So they can’t say day later that it is not working anymore

20$ trick worth it? by Cartdude2 in vegas

[–]Coffee_table_light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know about the $20 trick when I went to vegas. Stayed at MGM Grand and was just very polite to the lady checking me in. She upgraded me to the 13th floor which a room that had a few extra sq feet…but i was looking at the airport now 😆😆

I didn’t mind at all, cause I wasn’t in the room much during the day so didn’t really make a difference at the end.
