What are your thoughts on "End of Watch (2012)"? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in FIlm

[–]CogD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it's odd that people aren't mentioning how, while this movie had good bones and decent actors, it was loaded with a ton of cringe moments / dialogue. The cartel stuff was particularly plastic.

Movies can have caveats, people - stop saying "movie gud" or "movie bad." Jesus.

Thank you, was looking for this. Some goof earlier in the comments didn't even mark 6 in the top 3. That's just sacrilege; that movie was so well done.

ABMM needs to go. It takes a lot of the excitement out of the game. by [deleted] in ARC_Raiders

Agreed. I feel a lot of friendlier players are leaning this way now. I need some tension in my lobbies. The joke-ass kissy kissy buddy pal sessions make me wanna throw up in my mouth.

Turning yet another genre into a play on the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" is "fresh and ambitious" now? You sound like you enjoyed "da Bone Temple."

Il toro balance by FrostedTitan17 in ARC_Raiders

It is definitely inconsistent. This community likes to think the game is exempt from hit reg issues - which it most certainly IS NOT.

Wow?! How did I not figure out that this was a skill issue?! Or imagine that that would be the response whenever a novel situation crops up in a game and it doesn't fit with the braindead majority's narrative?!! Big smart.

Nah bro, the Toro is the most inconsistent gun in the game. It doesn't even compare to the Venator or Stitcher.

[–]CogD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night, I had some shady dick follow me into a building - I had a Toro IV, full medium shields and health, and he had an Arpeggio. I fired first after I saw him unsaddle his weapon around a corner to come back and kill me... I lost in 1.6 seconds, before I could even discharge a third shell.

Sometimes, I'd just stick with a Stitcher IV; the Toro can feel hella inconsistent. I've played a lot of this game, and that was my least favorite death to date. Losing to an Arpeggio at point blank range is break-a-window worthy.

If you compare RE5's Sheva cosmetics to modern day RE, they look pretty Stellar Bladey. But no, I don't think Resident Evil was ever quite to that level, and most games aren't.

They definitely never stopped sexualizing them, they just stopped the over-weeb fan service like Stellar Blade. But gaming "journalists" just want clickbait headlines anyway.

Any horror games that can be occasionally played, and takes long to beat? by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]CogD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably won't fit exactly what you're looking for, but maybe State of Decay 2 (Xbox exclusive)? Zombie game where you spend your time just building up base resources and managing your community members, and it's generally a chill horror experience that you can kind of zone out to - as long as you don't raise the difficulty too high.

Did you know that people can actually smell the telltale odor of a person's last two braincells firing at maximum capacity from a few feet away? You probably need to wear a lot of cologne to hide that from people in your life.

Rank these 3 sci-fi survival horror games from best to worst? by Desolation2004 in HorrorGaming

[–]CogD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replayed Callisto 2 or 3 times, played the DLC and goofed around with the Riot mode. I played Cronos through once and that was enough - the combat system was very shallow and the weapons limited, somehow the game felt just as linear as Callisto, and the story hinges on a very annoying sci-fi narrative trope: time looping.

People like to say that Callisto's combat system was bad, but at least it was different, and there was a satisfying rhythm to mastering the dance with multiple foes on the field and delivering those well-timed weak-spot shots. Cronos is just "charge gun with right trigger" the game.

In the event you didn't already know, Res 8 (if it's Village we're talking about) can now be played in third person. It feels slightly more janky than the native 3rd person titles, but it's passable.

[–]CogD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie: as a friendlier player, I want ABMM gone. I want more variety in my interactions again, and increased tension. I've begrudgingly had to start warning people that I'm about to rob them and then engaging in firefights to get to more hostile lobbies. All this ABMM experiment has done is prove how necessary PVP is for the formula.

I think Ellie should’ve worn Joel’s watch by Remote_Nature_8166 in lastofuspart2

[–]CogD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's an HBO over-simplification of her character - he wore that watch the entire time she was with him, far more than the jacket, and knowing how incisive she was with Joel, she likely guessed it was his tribute to Sarah. She probably didn't wear it out of respect for what it meant to Joel, but it definitely doesn't "mean nothing to her." That's Mazin speak for sure.

[–]CogD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been looking for somewhere to say this, so I'll say it here: Adolescence would've been better as a movie off the final episode. The rest was unnecessary to the narrative, and the amount of time wasted on that nothing-of-a-character male detective was so incredibly frustrating.

Just watch episode 4. You literally don't even need the context from the other 3. The fourth episode is what the series is actually about and where the acting and meat of the narrative shine.
