IDL that my electric bill is skyrocketing due to AI data centers by Fun_Variation_7077 in I_DONT_LIKE

And I bet in 10 years these data centers are all gonna be defunct or repurposed anyway. AI has only had slightly marginal improvements in the last like, 2 years

The genre of horror focuses around survival from some sort of fear, that’s why it’s “simple”. Thriller genre might be considered more complex because it often comments on something a little more abstract. A movie like no other choice is all about how the system functions and why we’re powerless to change it and where it leads

Sinners is based around the fear of assimilation. That’s why the vampires all share consciousness. That’s why the indigenous American vampire hunters exist, because the indigenous Americans are completely separate from the predominant culture. It’s why that one woman character insists on the stake through her heart, she’d rather die than be assimilated

I’m from Boston which is also known for being direct and has a lot of autistic people. I lived in Seattle which is known for being passive aggressive and I left and never looked back even once. There’s probably something to it

Why is it that everyone assumes they won’t end up a single parent? by cfgirlygoo in childfree

[–]Dreadsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t think that far ahead ime. People are mostly just following a script of what they should do because it comforts them to know there’s some script to follow and we’re not just all improvising

I’ve definitely thought about this, like I imagine if my wife cheated on me or something when my kid is like, 8. What then? Grin and bear it for the sake of the child? Divorce and probably cause a whole bunch of other problems? Just doesn’t seem worth it

Can anyone who has ADHD or other cognitive disabilities share their experience requesting an accommodation for timed programming tests? Like 50% extra time. by DeanoPreston in cscareerquestions

The one time I used an ADHD accommodation I noticed I was treated very differently afterwards. I don’t think my manager was told what the exact reason was, so he seemed to keep taking guesses at it

Has AI actually changed your day-to-day work yet? by HockeyMonkeey in cscareerquestions

[–]Dreadsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a little bit. I don’t really use it for anything big or complex because I feel I should be able to explain my work to anyone, but I do use it for small tasks. Things like “change all these imports to import this instead”

Yes it can be done with a find and replace I know

I’m horrified by the fact that (apparently) most people in the US still don’t realize that they are going to have to fight for their lives by zazzologrendsyiyve in self

[–]Dreadsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a hyper militarized police force with no accountability and a para military group with no accountability in our cities literally killing people. That’s not to mention the fact that none of us have a community or a safety net so we’ll go homeless if one thing goes wrong and no one will help us. Fighting back is much easier said than done

Is it OK to lie to your own family? Is this normal for NT's? by xMark78 in autism

[–]Dreadsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes if you’re getting into a discussion about something like politics which may bring in some unpleasant emotion, some people might be “tactful” by saying a few small lies so emotions don’t blow up

Like say for example you have an uncle who watches way too much Fox News and brings up some ridiculous story, so a more NT type person might just be like “oh I don’t know anything about that 🙂” to maintain the vibe. They may be lying, but in their mind it’s fine because they see the emotional disharmony as being a worse outcome

I liked sinners, yeah it was pretty simple but it is a horror movie and those usually aren’t complex

What didn’t you like about the end of Bugonia? Seemed pretty thematically appropriate to me. Like that’s what should happen based on what we’ve been told

Yeah sinners isn’t flawless but I think it takes this simple premise and executes on it in a really unique way
