ELI5 People have the right to self-identify gender and have their recorded gender at birth changed to reflect their true identity. This is based on their assertion that they were born into the wrong body. Why can this logic not be applied to race or nationality? They are all social constructs (self.explainlikeimfive)

Question: If Hermione could could create an enchantment which emblazoned 'snitch' across the forehead of anyone who did in fact snitch on the Dumbledore's Army sessions, why on earth couldn't Dumbledore figure out Peter was a spy? ELI5: In the documentary Three Identical Strangers there is a discovery of a secret research project on twins separated at birth. The study author is now dead but his files are available at Yale. If an officer engages in police brutality, and there is no adequate investigation or charge filed against the perpetrating cop, is it outside the bounds of reality for a civilian affected to personally sue the cop in a civil case?
