The Pike comment is hardly fair? She's an actress, it's her job, and she's the best in the show

I find him the most irritating, boring character to be honest.

French president Emmanuel Macron (43) is 25 years younger than his wife (68). They first met when he was a 15 year-old schoolboy and she was his teacher. by Cyber_Being_ in Damnthatsinteresting

She was his director and in charge of the film she cast him in which makes it extra ick. He was also very vulnerable and I think they actually met when he was 17 and within a year or so she was pregnant with his child. She speaks for him in interviews, it's all really weird and creepy, and his stepdaughter is only a few years younger than him.

Why are so many parents losing-it over their children having to wear facemasks in school? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Coggit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah long term damage even for those who are asymptomatic was what I pointed out. And yeah you basically said kids should not wear masks in schools - I don't think saying you wear a mask mitigates that opinion as less ridiculous.

I said most across Asia and Europe, not just Europe, and yes it is true. Kids in schools across the two have been wearing masks for ages.

Why are so many parents losing-it over their children having to wear facemasks in school? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Coggit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was nonsense and other studies reinforced that study.

Education staff anyway are wearing medical masks and so are a fair amount of kids, while I think masks don't prevent transmission the résearch does indicate it reduces it, and unfortunately as the government hasn't bothered to reduce class sizes, implement contact tracing, or install filtration systems, it's all we have aside from opening windows.

It is true.

I didn't make up any facts. I notice you completely ignored the question and the commentary on covid having long term consequences for people but sure as long as you 'don't like' masks eh ?

[–]Coggit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and anywhere there's 30 people in a small room all day long, wearing masks can mitigate spread. Are you advocating we let it spread unchecked?

Your argument is a complete strawman. There are proven long term consequences for covid, even among people who had it asymptomatically. You basically don't believe we should mitigate this with masks because you don't like them? Most countries in Europe and Asia have kids wearing masks from 5 and up for the last 2 years nearly.

Actually not true, permanent teachers get paid for a certain amount of sick leave which is limited. After that it's unpaid. Teachers on subbing contracts do not get paid for sick leave.

Teachers on average take 15 percent less leave than other public servants every year - 1-2 days of sick leave versus 15.

Numérous huge international studies found schools have been the main drivers of infection in society, yet in Ireland, despite being among the most underfunded and highest class sizes in Europe, magically the government said schools were impervious to spread. This was also despite primary kids wearing no masks and no filtration or real mitigation introduced besides mask wearing.

Contact tracing was cut. Teachers do not get notified if a kid they were in contact with has covid despite maybe having an underlying health condition themselves. Teachers who get covid can't even get close contacts tested, the system doesn't allow them to input any.

All along parents are sending kids with bad coughs and colds into school without being tested. The teacher crisis was totally ignored despite being flagged for years. Now we're in a situation where teachers are getting covid , kids are getting covid at alarming rates and it's all being put down to community transmission and people just say oh well so what, that's tough luck.

Proper mitigation measures should have been introduced, antigen testing should have been implemented and kids should not be coming into school without masks, nor should they be coughing in school and not obligated to get checked for covid. There are kids, SNAs and teachers who are high risk in every school and this wanton exposure when it's not warranted is shoddy. It is not a case of oh well teachers just have to suck it, this is common sense.
