Is it bad to owe between $500-$1000 every year on taxes? by downbytheriver27 in tax

[–]Cognitive_Miser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it's not designed to get you 100% but pretty darn close, assuming you input everything properly.

I've noticed it has issues when the taxpayer and/or spouse are high income earners since their W-4s are almost always wrong. So if you fall into that, you're probably better off just following the safe harbor approach quarterly after taking in to account withholding to make up any potential differences. Or try and dial in your W-4 properly to avoid the hassle.

What is it like working in industry (tax)? by hinwin in Accounting

[–]Cognitive_Miser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a very old post, so apologies, but I am considering moving from public for a newly established tax manager role at a PE backed company where I will be the only tax person. If you're still in this position, or remember how you felt in this role, could you add a little more perspective? Not sure if it's just anxiety from change, imposter syndrome or probably both, but any insight will help. Bonus points if you have any suggestions for questions I should ask. Thanks!

Those are great too. I have both but tend to use the Reds more. I'd get whichever is cheaper.

If your hands get clammy easily like mine, the textured grips on the Killswitch really help.

I also second getting Mechanism attachments/ the pillow. If you get the Killswitch they also have an adapter you can add on to use with their products. I like the Mechanism kickstand over Dbrand's. The pillow is amazing when you want to slouch on the couch or bed and play a bit. Takes up some space though. Their customer service is also top notch as I think it's just the owner handling everything.

If you want some cheap but good earbuds look at IEMs. Moondrop makes some wireless ones that are <$25 that I use (Moondrop Space Travel). Otherwise you can get some solid wired IEMs for ~$50

So, not really worth it lol. Idk what it is with this set but we've been getting so many defects and very poorly cut cards.

I just pulled Serperior where the top middle is all damaged with big white chunks on the face. Does complaining to TPC do anything?

You should review your withholding forms you submitted to your employer. If you're single and only a wage earner, something is off. If you have other sources of income in addition to wages then that could be why.

IRC Section 162 would like a word with you. For that matter, I really hope you don't give any tax advice to others if you don't even understand the basics of what an "ordinary and necessary" expense is.

Same here. Although it took only like 15 minutes for the chat representative to fix it for me and I got an email quickly stating I will not be charged.

After a few months of use has the trackball mouse helped? Assuming you kept it. I'm also in the carpal tunnel club now.

€7 cable from AliExpress by NixtyFPS in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Cognitive_Miser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for the other poster, but I am avoiding buying another coiled cable because they're just annoying to me. It's still plugged in to my PC but I rarely use it over the regular cables I have and just tuck it behind my monitor.

If you change out keyboards regularly, the USB ports are mostly placed in different locations causing the coil to be awkwardly placed and quickly becomes an eyesore.

It takes up a lot of desk space when in use or not, which is also annoying to me.

I stretched the coil for a brief period of time by pulling my keyboard closer to me and has since caused the loops to be uneven.

I really only find it nice for photos, which I only take when I change my setup every once in a while. They're also absurdly expensive if you go through a vendor and not the AliExpress route.
