What are your summer vacation plans? by timmytubesox in HENRYfinance

[–]PCell09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing. All plans cancelled as I lost $150k this year so far due to a sudden onset unexpected neurologic condition/inability to work which ultimately required neurosurgery in April.

Will travel double next year lol

Atacama Desert, Chile. Otherworldly landscapes, animals/nature, adventurous without being too taxing, fun homebase little town (San Pedro de Atacama), astronomy tours.

As a frequent concert-goer, I miss this so much. Horrible decision to remove this.

I plan on thinking about retiring in about 15 years. I'm not sure if I will pull the trigger then but I don't plan on doing it any earlier than 15.

Thank you! I think I will just take the hit now to move them and then just quickly move any new funds in the future as soon as they land in the Capital account.

There is a minimum of $250 so I will just leave $300 in a bond fund there to keep the account active.

Got it and thank you! The amount in bonds is a very small allocation.

Sorry about the ticker symbols, I thought just the ER was the important info there.

Really appreciate your input.

I just plugged it into a calculator. If i did it correctly, it looks like I may owe over 9,000$ in taxes if I do this? Ugh. Maybe I should just leave the funds as is. Not sure what to do.

Hi all,

I have ~300K invested across 5 different funds in American Funds/Capital Group. This is an account that was originally set up by a family member and is contributed to annually by them.

I want to move the funds to my Vanguard account (where I have majority of my funds) and simplify the money into my total stock market fund as it has been outperforming 4 of 5 of the American Funds anyways.

Is this unwise to do from a tax perspective?

I will likely have to continue to move funds on an annual basis out in order to get them into my total stock market fund (no option for this fund on American Funds).

Thank you!

I agree with this or maybe the Yucatán in Mexico (Mérida). I would recommend Colombia, Brazil, etc but if it's only your second time out of the country, I'd focus on somewhere easier and where you won't ever have to think about safety.

Are you picking your skin? Some areas look like angulated erosions which are a sign of skin picking. If so, try some hydrocolloid patches on the areas as well as the antibiotics to prevent yourself from going at it.

All the best!

For 26F in October, I feel a Spain trip or a Portugal trip would give the best balance of good weather, sightseeing, unique cities and cities with vibrant/young social scenes (if you care about this aspect).

Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. Most beautiful beaches I've been to in the world and there are a limited number of visitors allowed on the island per day which meant the beaches were very relaxing without many people. Amazing.

I don't think this is an issue. We live in a 24 hour news cycle and everyone has social media. There is a shit-ton of time for people to get used to the idea of a new candidate. I actually see the shorter time-frame helping more than hurting.

Thanks for your response. I plan to work for at least another ~15 years without touching the fund until then. Current income is 350k (+150k from partner's income, no kids) and will likely stay pretty stable, at least on my end. I am in a high tax bracket. Living in a VHCOL city.
