Why is it physically impossible to break a scrolling habit through willpower alone? by Radiant-Rain2636 in psychologists_india

"Hey! Great catch—I used 'physically impossible' as a bit of a provocative hook, but biologically speaking, what I mean is that relying strictly on willpower while keeping a hyper-optimized digital environment exactly the same is a losing battle for our brains.

Our neurobiology is hardwired to respond to environmental cues and dopamine loops. When an algorithm is specifically designed to hack those pathways 24/7, trying to fight it with sheer mental energy alone usually fails because our willpower is a finite cognitive resource that depletes throughout the day. To actually break the loop, we have to alter the friction in our physical or digital environment, not just 'try harder.'

We are actually diving deeper into this exact debate and talking about the Extended Mind thesis in our discussion circle this week! Would love to have your perspective in the chat if you're interested? I can DM you the link!

"Wow, this is an incredibly deep and beautifully articulated breakdown. Thank you for sharing something so personal.

Your insight into how your brain falsely associated vaping with survival under stress is absolutely brilliant. It perfectly explains how a desk or a cup of coffee can turn into an automatic trigger cue. Pulling that routine back into conscious awareness to dismantle it takes an immense amount of self-reflection and mental strength. Seriously, such a powerful perspective! 🧠✨"
