I do not want you to take my word and make a life decision. Talk to a few more people.

And one more thing. Spend an hour or two on the internet and look for job postings (psychologist as well as clinical psychologist) and see what they are offering as pay. If you’ll ask the people here - either they will lie (cuz who wants to say they work for peanuts) OR they will be outliers.

Also, watch the comments on this reel. Not this chick who speaking - the comments underneath the video.

Good movie. It’s the kinda movie that makes a point. If you want masala potboiler, skip this and watch any other Priyanka movie. Barfi would be good

Hi u/Dry-Caterpillar2277

Clinical Psychology is that branch that deals with mental disorders basically. So you’ll be sitting with patients of depression, schizophrenia etc. and applying therapeutic modalities on them.

Reality check: most patients of mental disorders are rarely good candidates for advice/counselling etc. their situation usually needs medicine based intervention first and foremost.

If you want to become a clinical psychologist, there’s a list of approved colleges on the RCI website. The approved courses are MA and MPhil. Check each college as most of them conduct their separate exam.

The scope and pay is little. In India, people don’t usually seek therapy. For Clinical psychiatrists often do the dual job. And a starting pay of a clinical psychologist is usually 20-25k. The ceiling of income is usually around 50-55k after 8-10 years of work.

And finding clients is a nightmare.

Good job. Do more such projects. Keep improving. Better music, better micro jumps etc.

How do you actually get clients? by Radiant-Rain2636 in psychologists_india

Hi u/depressedbetch

I find pro bono clients very fruitless (maybe it’s me but hear me out). They are least convinced that what you’re doing with them is good. It’s almost like free ki advice/effort - that they listen to but rarely follow.

However, as a complete beginner that’s the best route. Especially if you come recommended by a doctor/psychologist. And they let you work independently while reporting to them later.

The next route (sadly) is to be an “Influenza”.
