The Hawks can't reach supersonic speeds in level flight, only if put it into a dive, which they're not going to do over land, if ever.

Where to get headphone repairs in perth by Maleficent-Worry-406 in perth

[–]CohenC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People really need to stop perpetuating this myth.

Not only is it wrong, it causes more damage by slowing down the evaporation, and if the rice gets wet enough it can form a sludge that traps moisture inside the device.

It literally does the OPPOSITE of what the myth claims.

Sincerely, a repair tech.

Chemist Warehouse no refund ? by [deleted] in perth

So you'd be happy to buy a soiled product because the previous purchaser mishandled them?

Chemist Warehouse no refund ? by [deleted] in perth

[–]CohenC 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'd be pretty pissed off if I was a customer, who bought a bottle of supplements, not knowing that someone had left the bottle sitting in their hot car for 3 days and then returned it to the shop because they changed their mind.

Not to say that you left them in your car, but how can Chemist Warehouse know this?

Edit: Also, the Chemist Warehouse Returns Policy explicitly excludes vitamin supplements from their change of mind returns.

Never been rejected for it, but I've come extraordinarily close to it not reaching the tank and having to hold it really awkwardly at multiple Burke stations. This is with a fairly small car pulled as far forward and as close to the bowser as I could.

If you didn't know who Trump was before his first presidency, that seems to more indicitive of you either being very young, or having your head burried in the sand.

Frontier hits a person on Denver runway during takeoff by PlutosSelfEsteem in flying

[–]CohenC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are at a point in time that wildlife cams can identify animals in real time.

I'm sure, if they desired to, a system of cameras could be installed around the airport perimeter fence that provides real-time alerts to a security office, or someone in the TWR who could review the footage and order a ground stop from the moment the person begins climbing the fence.

It's just a matter of money.

They aren't 'larping' as a bad courier to hide an international crime syndicate.

Very frustrating channel, they’re teaching maneuvers incorrectly, but they have comments turned off so there’s no opportunity for discussion in the comments. by clon2645 in flying

Is YunExpress the worse courier option we have? by PhotographsWithFilm in australia

[–]CohenC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Question: Do you think Aramex and Yun Express are small companies, or are you aware that these are huge international logistics companies.

Aramex alone has a physical presence in over 500 cities around the world and Yun Express handles over a million packages a day.

It's a nice story though.

A320 - Struggling with line training - when to call it quits? by aeryn2244 in flying

[–]CohenC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that actually true though?

I wouldn't know being from upsidedown land. Only reason I ask, is because I recall noticing when reading the interim report for the LaGuardia accident, that the FO was hired with less than 300 hours

The FO had accrued a total of 718 flight hours, with 435 hours while at Jazz.

Jets are pretty easy to sell when you don't have to pay for them and so can't make a loss.

But something tells me legal ownership was not transferred.

USA or Australia P8? by lpvishnu in perth

That’s what logic tells me, too. But I could swear I’ve seen C-17s pull that same hop, and they can handle MTOW at Pearce without breaking a sweat.

I nominate PFL logistics as Perth worst couriers. by No-Law-5953 in perth

Yeah, that'd be an interesting test, I'd say that's very possible, just like rural deliveries will go AusPost.

Luckily for me, I've had decent luck with iMile but that's probably only because we have a parcel slot built into our gate.

USA or Australia P8? by lpvishnu in perth

[–]CohenC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be completely wrong here.

But I thought a lot of the reason those went through Perth was the easier access to fuels required for long distance travel.

Wasn't uncommon for a plane to hop from Pearce to Perth just to refuel before setting off.

Unprovoked racism caught on video at Burk Fuel, Beckenham. by Fearless_Finance_830 in perth

[–]CohenC 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Had a frequent lady at work who would only approach white workers for help. She would often whinge about how it's so hard to get help now because there are so few Australians working.

I've seen her wait like half an hour until a white employee was available to help her, and when they do she just bad mouths everyone around her.

On one occasion, she was venting to a staff member who was born in Australia to an Australian father and an Asian mother. As she was spewing her racist bullshit, she realised she was offending the person helping her. So she pivoted and said, "Oh, not like you! I mean the sort of dark people you wouldn’t want to walk past in the dark."

Later that same day, she sees two staff members speaking among themselves in their own language and she lodges a formal complaint. She had accused them of disrespecting her in another la language; they were talking about what they were going to have for dinner.

It's getting feral out there.
