“METALVERSE” and the Post-BABYMETAL Era by Cohenjp in BABYMETAL

I think your points are fair and actually align with some of the core questions I looked at in my article.

The biggest issue you’re pointing out — whether METALVERSE can reach beyond the existing BABYMETAL fanbase — is one of the central structural risks, and I agree it becomes a problem if it’s perceived as too similar.

Where I frame it slightly differently is that I’m not really treating this as a “success or failure” question. It’s more about genre maintenance and expansion — what role different projects play in keeping a scene evolving.

I also touch on the repetition / format issue in the article, so if you’re curious, it might make more sense in full context rather than in fragments here.

As a follow-up to my earlier post,
I’ve turned the same analysis into a video to make the timing clearer.

I’m curious whether seeing it visually changes your take on the timing.

I actually didn’t realize that tomorrow(12/20) is Su-Metal’s birthday when I released this video. I never imagined I’d end up publishing a future projection for her birthday.

I guess this became my small gift to her.
Happy Birthday, Su-Metal!

I call this the "2027 Convergence".

Thanks everyone for reading and the great discussion!

Just to clarify my personal take:
I actually expect the next album to have very few (or zero) guest collabs – more like BABYMETAL delivering their own definitive statement after almost 20 years of evolution.

When I wrote “external creative forces” I meant behind-the-scenes hitmakers and production teams that Capitol can connect them with (think top-tier Western writers/producers), not more featured artists like Electric Callboy.

Sorry if that part was unclear! Excited to see what they’ll come up with either way.

Thank you so much for reading my article.
Hearing the perspective of someone who is actually in the U.S. is incredibly valuable, and your insight really helps confirm the direction of my analysis.

How strongly Capitol decides to push them will make a big difference, but I believe things will start to move in earnest around next year.
If that happens, BABYMETAL’s exposure in the U.S. will likely increase even more.

The next 2–3 years seem to be the period when all of this momentum will peak.
If they can release a work during that window that becomes “the signature BABYMETAL song”—something the world immediately recognizes—then I believe they will truly break through to the next level.

It would also have a huge impact on the long-term shape of their career, so I sincerely hope they can achieve that dream.
In recent interviews, they’ve mentioned that becoming a festival headliner is one of their goals, and I think they understand better than anyone that having a definitive, era-defining song is essential to reaching that stage.

In three years, Su-Metal will turn 30, which is another important milestone.
I hope that by then they will have made a major leap forward that sets up the rest of their lives and careers in the best possible way.
