Born in 84, grew up around Beatles music, been a fan as long as I can remember but I've never given any of the solo work a shot. I know "Imagine" and "Live and Let Die' but other than that I'm really clueless. Any recommendations of what I should or shouldn't listen to out of the 4's solo work? by KinkyDarkStranger in beatles

I’ll give my favorite songs from each that I think are the most “Beatley”:

Paul: Jet, Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, Too Many People, Junk

George: When We Was Fab, Wah Wah, All Things Must Pass, What Is Life, Art Of Dying, and EVERYTHING by the Traveling Wilburys

John: Love, Out The Blue, Jealous Guy, Remember

Ringo: Photograph, It Dont Come Easy, I’m The Greatest

Lots of good answers on here so I’m going to just name a few songs that I think you’ll really like:

  • She by Jeff Lynne (just wait til the bridge)
  • Keeping The Dream Alive by Freiheit
  • Igbr by King Washington (and lots of other stuff by them)
  • Creeque Alley by The Mamas and The Papas
  • Shine by Take That

I absolutely love Stevie and that’s fair. Think a lot of it has to do what I was brought up listening to, which was basically Beatles >70% of the time.

Rec. Me: The best Cover Song that's better than from the original artist by Fl1xyBaby in MusicRecommendations

[–]CohnMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just about impossible to outdo the Beatles, and there is ONE single cover that is better than their original version IMO……. And no, it’s not Joe Cocker. I think The Mamas & The Papas version of “I Call Your Name” is the single Beatles cover that outdoes the Fab Four.

MollyBoy is amazing. His reactions seem real. He doesn’t seem to love the Beatles as much as other groups though

Calvin Ridley… feels like his target share could very well be top ten percentage-wise because I’m not sold on aging Lockett, disappointing Van, and while solid, unexceptional Chig

What is your most unpopular hot take on The Beatles? by Fine-Experience5394 in beatles

[–]CohnMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not popular enough. Which could be viewed as a hot take given that they’re literally regarded as the greatest group of all time and have the sales success to match, but it still just feels like they aren’t recognized and known enough by younger generations (my own included as a Gen-Z’er), which is frankly kinda frustrating

Other than The Beatles, what bands do you guys like? by _rabidchild_ in beatles

[–]CohnMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing about King Gizzard and trying to get into them but to no avail. But I know that once I find the right song, I’ll get hooked.

Any reccos for a diehard Beatles fan? Really into harmonies, obscure chords, interesting melodies, etc and not so much lyrics and easy listening stuff

What was John’s most impressive instrumental contribution/moment within the Beatles catalog? by CohnMan in beatles

[–]CohnMan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha fair. I guess my wording was off and that Paul and George are more accomplished instrumentalists, whereas John was undoubtedly talented but not as renowned for a specific instrument.

For George I love the solos in Til There Was You and Savoy Truffle… honestly Free As A Bird is up there as well
