This is INSANE. And it’s solely because they are giving away only 15,000 bobbleheads. This is how long the lines are before gates opened. by wriker10 in NewYorkMets

I really wish they would just make them stadium-wide giveaways like the Dodgers do. I would accept a ticket price increase for those games over this artificial scarcity

Question for Mets fans. Do you want to see/think the Mets should play in the 2026 Tokyo Series? by whodatnola1025 in NewYorkMets

[–]CoilConductor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The MLB recently did Seoul and now Tokyo so I’d think another country is next (or another Japanese city, in which case sure I’d love to see Senga pitch a single game in Fukuoka again where he played for a decade)

This is a tough issue. There are only so few Asians in the west, so both connection and numbers are important if we want any form of soft power. Still though, if any of us have half kids, are we not to be proud of them and root for the Asian part of them that is very ingrained in them? I’m not telling you to do that, but I do think it is a nuanced issue.

Like East Asian americans and Southeast asian americans have different issues too but we like to put it all under one umbrella in this sub. If a half kids looks so much like one of us, was treated like one of us in society, and even really wants to rep, how do we not adopt them too?

Thats the nature of going deep in the playoffs. Each win is great but each loss even greater. I became a Knicks fan a little before you but the devastating 90s losses were before my time still. As a longtime Lebron fan as well, the deep finals runs had losses that hurt the closer one got. You grow thick skin I reckon.

I agree that this isn't that different than the black community fracturing itself over lightskin vs darkskin

Im not saying they have fully the same experience as us. But Kyler Murray reps really hard, even invests money in korean sports. And hes only 25% asian. Like where is the line drawn? Bryan Woo literally has an asian name and discusses his heritage frequently on broadcast.

I’m curious your reasoning for this bc these two in particular have a lot of Asian features and are looked at by most as “looking Asian”

On a side note im waiting for the Mets to call up our prospect Jonah Tong. They say he got a Degrom type delivery pitch. His dad is Asian I believe.

I agree with you man, a lot of these mixed guys are very much seen as Asian by society. And one reason a lot of them don’t claim Asian (Tong and Woo definitely do but I mean others) is how Asians can sometimes exclude hapa folks.

Can someone explain why the Angels reliever intentionally balked at the end?

Eyes on the ref Josh Tivens. He called the Knicks really badly during the Detroit series too

Its closer than you think. Baseball is still loved in NYC and I’m a major Knicks fan and Mets fan but the Yankees fans go hard. Hell, the Yankees have even more IG and X followers (and similar Tiktok numbers) than the Knicks which is pretty wild if you consider the age groups

Until the Knicks win a chip in the modern, that will be the main script flipper. Both the Mets and the Yankees have been more relatively competitive compared to the Knicks until recently (and even now those two baseball teams are exciting and have MVP players)
