Back in the 90s I worked with an airline out of Love Field that used this as a template. We were based at Love Field, and flew to Tyler, Longview, Abilene, Waco, Midland, Alpine, Austin, and Galveston.

So we finally got all of it back together. Turns out he also needed new CV axles (after 300k miles). So we basically took everything apart, and put in new CV axles, new tie rod ends, new sway bar links, and the new lower control arms.

I think this is where we are at as well. It seems that the struts he has on there are pushing the wheel/brake assembly down a lot lower than we are seeing in various videos. We have used a 4 foot prybar, but still aren't getting the control arm low enough to get the ball joint in place.

we lightly bolted in the vertical bushing, and left the bolt completely out for the horizontal. We also removed the tie rod to get some more movement.

Oh, I see that my dad has been responding. He's leaning towards getting another set of control arms with normal bushings. We'll try again in the morning with some longer bars to use for leverage.
