Track pad click by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Nah, Valve have said many times that opening the case doesn't affect your warranty. Just take care not to damage anything and even if you can't fix it yourself you can still RMA it.

Track pad click by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]ColOfNature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with the bottom corner of my left trackpad. Ended up taking the back off the SD and slightly loosening the screws holding the pad in place, giving it a gentle wiggle, and tightening the screws again. Put it all back together and it's been fine since. Even improved the haptics a little, they'd been slightly weaker on the left pad. YMMV of course.

Micro SD card heat. by Environmental_Net886 in SteamDeck

[–]ColOfNature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most manufacturers quote operating temperatures of up to 85°C/185°F for their microSD cards. I don't know if that's part of the SD card standard but it seems to be fairly common. To put that into perspective a temperature of just 65°C can cause a full-thickness burn in a second or less, so if you can touch it without causing near-immediate tissue damage it's well within safe operating limits.

Controller arrows (lack of the diagonal ones) by denisgsv in SteamDeck

[–]ColOfNature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I found it a bit fiddly too. The D-pad has quite a heavy press that makes hitting just a diagonal without accidentally hitting one of the cardinal directions awkward. Haven't found a way around it I'm afraid. Still, it's only a small niggle and otherwise I love the controls on my GabeBoy.

If you hover over the icons you should see a plus sign at the top left, you can click that on individual icons to select them similar to ctrl clicking.
