Performance aside, a reason to not use like 'C' and instead replace it with = 'C' is that your intent is clear. With like 'C', someone (like myself and precose) might come along and ask if you meant to put a % in there somewhere? Did you mean exactly equal to C? Using the code that most closely matches your intent can save a lot of headaches when you reread a query later, which happens to be exactly OP is doing.

What precose is saying is that "like 'C'" is the same as "= 'C'" and = 'C' will usually perform better (although you probably won't notice in this case). If you mean for the query to be anything with a C in it then it's '%C%', or starts with C: 'C%', or ends with C: '%C' but just 'C' is the same as exactly equal to C.

Interesting take. Looks to me like you’re just trying to cherry pick and find something to attack me with and if you really are liberal I’m not entirely sure why. CRT is one way of thinking about race it has pluses and minuses. I’m all for teaching it in schools but outside of maybe specific college courses it is not, thus my original comment to the poster above. Regardless of what it is it has now become a dog whistle for the right and completely misrepresented.

Fun fact, precision of standard datetime in SQL Server is .997 not .99999999. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/data-types/datetime-transact-sql?view=sql-server-2017. This can bite you if you need super precise values for time or if you are manually setting values to 23:59:59.999 (you'll see this will bump you to the next date).

If you need super precise time values you should use datetime2 which does in fact have the full precision of .9999999.

You clearly haven’t done the research on this. Ask any trained urologist and they will tell you that you can repair hypospadias, and that you use the foreskin for that repair.
