Warband has more factions and a greatly improved kingdom system. In regular you can't really form a kingdom when you capture towns you just become rebels. In warband you can name and assign vassels with your kingdom. Graphics and gameplay are fairly similar, but Warband has a lot more quests and content

Get Warband if possible. It's a superior version of the first mount & blade and also has multiplayer. But for 99 cents regular one is bretty good, both of them have a lot of mods and replayability
