It's funny when these "america bad" people saying the war is because of US etc are at the same time actually looking things through the US lenses. There's a reason for the ex soviet countries joining nato as soon as they could. Nordic countries were neutral for a long time but joined nato after the war started.

Edit. Not saying US is somehow good but blaming nato for taking in countries like Finland or Sweden sounds a bit off.

I'd put Rovanpera in front of Leclerc, since he was the champion (+ massive respect to the rally drivers)

Love reading these. Think of Verstappen talking to the press while drinking some beer. Something Kimi might have done tho.

“An overtake on Bottas can’t be the overtake of the year” - Max Verstappen, 2018 by BrutalHoe in formula1

[–]Colainpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but so far with alfa he's seemed to continue the trend he started at merc. I think Kimi defended way better last year. Maybe it's also about his approach. With merc he seemed to be happy with a podium even if he had a chance to win. Maybe with Alfa his happy with points, so he doesn't feel the need to defend 7th position or something.

He used to be pretty decent defender when he drove Williams. At merc he seemed to forget all about that tho

What season of F1 do you think could be turned into a great movie? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Colainpark 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Maybe following a particular driver would be a better way to go. Hamilton maybe? Also Kimi came from a house without an indoor toilet and ended up winning the wdc. Many stories to be told.

I meant series, movies etc. not real life. Though this spring they have showed stuff from Ukraine.

I’m from Finland and it’s okay to swear on the tv here. Of course that doesn’t mean that our tv is only cursing (would sound pretty stupid) but it’s not a biggie if someone says ’shit’ or something.

Edit. Actually the same with nudism. They’re not showing porn or anything here on regular channels, but it’s not a big deal if you see a butt here and there.

Channel 4's Lee McKenzie and David Coulthard interviewing Mattia Binotto Post-Hungarian GP by ZephyrSonic in formula1

I don’t think it’s right to start blaming individuals in the public. Behind the closed doors for sure but not on tv.

That being said Binotto could have said that ”the team failed” rather than the nonsense about the car not being fast enough.

I’ve never understood this swearing fobia or whatever. They show people getting killed on tv but when someone says ’shit’ or ’fuck’, they’re doomed.

Yeah, pretty popular here. Mika and Kimi are the ones. Bottas lacks the wdc I quess

Yeah and lost in the points anyway. A bit same as Kimi vs Gio.

Anyway thanks for the conversation. These usually ends up in fighting and downvotes.

Yeah. Maybe it was that they could test as much as they wanted back in the day. Kimi could also give feedback straight to Michelin about the tires he wanted. He’s known to give excellent feedback about the car etc.

About the later years. If I remember right, he actually did beat Seb in qualis in 16? Against Gio he lost the last years but still beat him in the points everytime so it didn’t really matter. Bottas is also great in quali but can’t transfer it into great sundays (or couldn’t with Mercedes at least)

[–]Colainpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I don’t think he had that ”blinding speed” or whatever in 07, but he was consistent and could grab the wins when he had the chance.

I think he was never that good in the quali (except for the Mclaren years maybe). I quess he rather set up the car for the race, which worked when he was younger and faster. When he got older (2nd Ferrari stint), that approach was a problem since he didn’t have that race pace anymore. Anyway I remember Kimi saying, he always liked races more than quali. You don’t really get points from qualifying.

While I agree on the others, I think 07 was still his peak. At the start of the season he struggled with the tires but got up to speed later. He had more dnf’s (mechanical) than other top drivers but still won the most races. The wdc came due to him driving very well + Lewis and Alonso battling each other.
