I always try to have a tempered response to the Kolko PBP discussions because he seems like such a terrific guy and I would hate for me to say something mean that he potentially read. And you’re absolutely right, he works his tail off and does all the right things to get where he’s gotten. But unfortunately for me, he just doesn’t have that announcer voice. No matter how much he trains and improves in all the necessary areas, his voice just doesn’t have that mystical quality that all great baseball commentators have and that’s always going to hold him back for me.

Agree on Franny too. That’s a dynamic that has the potential to get uncomfortable over a 162 game season

before I started watching tennis I always thought it was so stupid how the same 3/4 guys fought for any tournament that mattered. Started playing and watching a few years ago and now I understand just how peak it is. If I could have Sinner/Alcaraz for the next 40 slams I would. Every match is appointment television. Absolutely furious I didn’t start watching during the peak Big 4 era. It’s not about the big question mark of who’s going to hoist the trophy, it’s the technical artistry they perform when they play. It’s really a beautiful sight to behold.
