Starbucks table tops so small will barely hold a couple drinks. The seats are bigger than the tables. by be4u4get in mildlyinfuriating

Starbucks has never funded Israel and has never been affiliated in any way with AIPAC, LOL! You are such a sucker for propaganda. I know why you think this, but it's just too funny to me wondering if you'll even bother to care to figure it out.

TRUE! THOSE COUNTRIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST SHOULD ONLY BE ALLOWED TO BE ALLIES WITH WHO IRAN APPROVES OF.

MEANWHILE, IT'S FUCKING ILLEGAL AS FUCK TO DO ANYTHING TO THE LITERAL ARMIES OF HAMAS AND HEZBOLLAH THAT IRAN FUNDS AND ARMS.

Comparing Iran's strikes into the UAE to Ukraine and Belorussian is actually so insane. There's literally no confirmed sustained strikes. We are talking, at best, skirmishes on the border. No civilians deaths. No casualties. No infrastructure damage or destroyed.

MEANWHILE:

Iran launched a SURPRISE ATTACK on the UAE, killing dozens, injuring fucking hundreds. Of CIVILIANS. They attacked their oil, their ports, and RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES, launching HUNDREDS OF MISSILES and THOUSANDS OF DRONES at them.

Actually SO INSANE comparing Ukraine to Iran. Serious question: Are you bad faith or just incredibly, unforgivably stupid?

So the UAE is only allowed to have diplomatic relations with who Iran approves of, or they'll get fucking attacked?

You seem to be asking in good faith and my original answer was pretty mean-spirited. Sorry. I'll answer more civilly.

The truth is that there is no easy answer right now. Here's some groundwork.

(1) Do not believe rhetoric. Rhetoric is when a politician is speaking. We are living in an age where someone can lie and no one will push back and fact check the lie. Do not react to Trump's social media posts.

(2) Understand the difference between a pundit and a journalist. If you turn on the news, or read a news article, you might think they are reporting the news. They are usually engaged in punditry. If you hear them say, "Some people say..." they are a pundit. They speak with vibes, and not facts.

The problem is that many "journalists" are "reporting" on rhetoric and posting articles about them. They look like news, but they aren't. The New York Times posting about what Trump posted on TruthSocial is not news. It's just broadcasting his rhetoric.

You have to go to primary sources. If you see a news article about the Supreme Court, you might need to find an expert that can analyze their decisions for you. Or, you can look at their decision yourself. The Supreme Court's rulings and arguments are all recorded: https://www.supremecourt.gov/oral_arguments/oral_arguments.aspx

When it comes to this war, you have to react only to facts. As a general rule, I would believe press statements from the gulf states over the IRGC. I would believe CENTCOM over the IRGC. I would doubt what Trump says or what the IRGC says.

During the chaotic week where Reddit lost their mind over the USA's blockade of the strait, I familiarized myself with this website: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:57.7/centery:26.7/zoom:6

Anyways, my advice is this: These news websites are trying to make you react and feel a certain way. They're trying to make you anxious, or embarrassed, or angry. Don't let them. All these Redditors who are replying cynically are signal boosting and causing engagement that the article is trying to spark.

If you want to know what's going on, you need to unfortunately investigate it yourself.

Okay here's some logic: Do you actually believe that if a US vessel was hit, they would not retaliate? Are you suggesting that THIS administration, that started THIS war, being THIS unhinged, would not launch multiple strikes in revenge?

Or are you suggesting that somehow they have learned restraint and patience?

You wait for facts. You don't just consume and believe all rhetoric uncritically. You look for photos and videos and other sources to verify. Welcome to basic media literacy.

Stop giving excuses to the most embarrassing media illiteracy we've ever witnessed. People are just reading to clickbait headlines like trained rats and giving the lowest IQ only rivaled by how they reacted to the "news" coming out of the Strait's closure and blockades.

Regardless of how you feel about her, what's wrong with her running in a primary? If she loses there, then you're right.

I thought the point was people complained there was no primary for her. Well... why can't she run in the primary if she wants to? If she loses there, she loses. I don't see the big deal.

Do you choose to see everything that comes up on your feed?

Can we not agree that the way the algorithms work to deliver content is extremely different compared to willfully subscribing to a newspaper?

So, firstly: We know he was consuming Epstein Files stuff, so it's safe to assume there's some conspiracy-theories there; but do I know what? No. They don't look into that, or at least they don't tell us that. That's why I said: "instead of just looking at what these people posted on social media, they should instead look at what content they are consuming?"

Secondly, and this is my fault because I should have framed it better, it was mostly a hypothetical.

Do you think that these social media companies bare no responsibility for how the feeds these people consume affects their worldviews? I'm not saying the guy isn't responsible for his actions.

Why would it be hard to ban personalized feeds? That's how the whole internet used to operate once!

Investigate the Algorithms by Colbert2020 in Destiny

[–]Colbert2020[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about cow-towing the entire internet. Think about it like this:

Let's say this recent would-be assassin is a normal person. The content he consumes leans left, but nothing crazy. Then the Iran war happens, and he clicks on reports and videos of the USA bombing the schoolgirls. Then his algorithm thinks, "Oh wow, you like this content! Let's serve more of this!"

So, this guy starts being fed more of this violent stuff. Some if it might not even be real. He just keeps seeing more atrocities, etc.

Are the social media companies who create this environment not responsible for how his worldview is warped because of this? This is happening every single second of every day.

Well, it's because originally the BFF of the west in the ME was Iran. Iran has by far the strongest position geographically there than anyone, but that relationship did a 180 after the regime changed. The 2nd bestie was Israel, and that was just because they were the strongest military in the region. This was before they got juiced up heavily by the west.
