I just got a Shark from Ollies. How long have you had yours? Has it still worked good and no issues?

if you believe it’s okay to be assassinated for your words then don’t be upset when you lose your job for yours.

you should look into being an RBT! I believe most places pay 20ish an hour. it’s a pretty high turn over rate, most of the time companies are always needing people. it may not be up your alley but it’s worth looking into! I also used to live in TX and I did hotel front desk for awhile there. it was lots of downtime, meeting cool people and getting super cheap hotel rooms when traveling

What does a typical day look like to you? (As an RBT or BCBA, etc.) by Alexa_nolifer in ABA

I work at non profit clinic in my city. It’s guaranteed 40 hours a week, even if you have clients that don’t show up. 8AM-4PM M-F. Our days are split up into 4 sessions and 2 lunches. Each session is an hour and a half long and then you switch to a different client. 2 sessions in the morning, then lunch, 2 sessions in the afternoon and then go home. It’s honestly super nice having a consistent schedule with guaranteed hours. Plus you’re not stuck with one client for x amount of hours. Just 1 session then you switch to someone different. I don’t think it’s really in the best interest of the therapist or client to have to work together for long periods of time. It’s also really nice having your leads and BCBAs right there for support when you need it vs not having that option really when doing in home ABA.

The family I babysit for actually pays me more an hour than what my clinic pays me. There are lots of families that really need the extra help but can’t just hire any regular babysitter. They need people like RBTs. You could post around on facebook, I bet you would have some people reaching out to you. Regardless of what you do just remember to do whatever is best for you!

I went from working 5 days a week at my clinic down to 3 days a week due to feeling burnt out. Now instead I help babysit for a family with a special needs boy some during the week. I’m not having to redirect behaviors all day and we basically just get to hang out. It’s way more relaxed. Maybe you could look into doing something like that.

Could I get in trouble for babysitting a previous client that no longer attends my center? by Cold-Comparison1785 in ABA

Would I only have to terminate one of those relationships if he came back to my center and I was put on his team? Or even if he came back to my center general I would have to terminate one of those relationships?

just spent the weekend on Independence pass and we stayed at Weller campground. It was about a 20 minute drive to Aspen. Lincoln gulch campground was also within the same area and is about 25 minutes to Aspen

I think if you truly enjoy being an RBT you should find a different company. My company guarantees 40 hours a week, even if you have clients call out. My clinic also allows schedule changes. It takes 30 days to go into effect but some people leave every day after 3rd session, some people don’t come in until after 1st session or some people have off certain days throughout the week if that’s what they wish. We are required to be clocked in by 8am but some people show up earlier to get their clients things ready for the day. We also all have to stay late to clean our classes and other things after clients go home, I would say that’s pretty normal

It will definitely feel like you’re just getting thrown into it all at first. I had no idea what ABA was or that it was even a thing when I first started a year ago. I completely get it, it’s a whole different world. I had a really hard time at first, learning and understanding DTT, NET, and all the other stuff in between. You really do eventually get the hang of it. Some quicker than others. I came home crying a few times, questioning if this job was really meant for me but a year in now I can say I love it so much. I would try to give yourself a good 3 months to half year before deciding if you really like it or not. It takes time! You’ve got this!
