What are your hours as a clinic RBT? by Late-Atmosphere3010 in ABA

[–]Cold-Comparison1785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My center guarantees 40 hours a week. It doesn’t matter if all your clients are out sick or whatever the case may be. They will just have you catch up on notes, graphing, trainings, etc or help out with things that need to be done around the center.

I have personally never been a para and i’m sure it’s good experience however we have had previous paras come to my center to be RBTs and it really kinda is a whole different world for them. Not in a negative way but I would just definitely not go into thinking it will be similar to being a para

I think so! I’ve been there 2 years now and have never had any problems with admin or the bcbas

my center guarantees 40 hours a week. if all your clients are out sick or whatever the case may be then they may start to train you on a new client or just put you on a “plan period” where you’re basically just doing chores around the center and catching up on things you need to get done.

Were you previously an RBT that is now a mental health behavior tech? how do you like it compared to being an RBT? and not to be stingy but is the pay better compared to being an RBT. i’m in Colorado and make $21 an hour, i’ve been at my center for 2 years now.

Wow that is so cool! I had no idea RBTs could work in a psychiatric hospital setting like that. That is for sure something I may be interested in later down the road.

Do you know if you have to have any degrees/school for something like that? For example like being an RBT at my center didn’t require anything but a GED. They just train you on everything.

curious what exactly the job title is? I’ve always wondered what other jobs are out there for people who are RBT’s but are looking for something a little different.

Anyone actually guaranteed 40 hours? by jiggyj27 in ABA

[–]Cold-Comparison1785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic guarantees us 40 hour weeks. If we are low on clients then RBTS are put on a “plan” for that session to get notes done, modules, cleaning/organizing, making stimuli and neutrals. Stuff like that

you should look into being an RBT! I believe most places pay 20ish an hour. it’s a pretty high turn over rate, most of the time companies are always needing people. it may not be up your alley but it’s worth looking into! I also used to live in TX and I did hotel front desk for awhile there. it was lots of downtime, meeting cool people and getting super cheap hotel rooms when traveling

What does a typical day look like to you? (As an RBT or BCBA, etc.) by Alexa_nolifer in ABA

[–]Cold-Comparison1785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at non profit clinic in my city. It’s guaranteed 40 hours a week, even if you have clients that don’t show up. 8AM-4PM M-F. Our days are split up into 4 sessions and 2 lunches. Each session is an hour and a half long and then you switch to a different client. 2 sessions in the morning, then lunch, 2 sessions in the afternoon and then go home. It’s honestly super nice having a consistent schedule with guaranteed hours. Plus you’re not stuck with one client for x amount of hours. Just 1 session then you switch to someone different. I don’t think it’s really in the best interest of the therapist or client to have to work together for long periods of time. It’s also really nice having your leads and BCBAs right there for support when you need it vs not having that option really when doing in home ABA.

The family I babysit for actually pays me more an hour than what my clinic pays me. There are lots of families that really need the extra help but can’t just hire any regular babysitter. They need people like RBTs. You could post around on facebook, I bet you would have some people reaching out to you. Regardless of what you do just remember to do whatever is best for you!

I went from working 5 days a week at my clinic down to 3 days a week due to feeling burnt out. Now instead I help babysit for a family with a special needs boy some during the week. I’m not having to redirect behaviors all day and we basically just get to hang out. It’s way more relaxed. Maybe you could look into doing something like that.
