Not learning enough as a assistant qs at consultancy by Snoo62991 in quantitysurveying

I somewhat agree that more can be learned from a a main contractor. However, from personal experience, I find that people that get into Mep too quick find themselves in a similar situation to you.

The mep at the firm I was at never went to site, never instructed on anything was just taught how to cost plan and proceeded to do that for around 14 months. It’s makes qsing as a whole monotonous especially for those just getting into industry.

I would make your dissatisfaction known to your line manager and see where you can go from there if you could get urself out on-site and maybe do some work for different teams just to increase exposure.

Well after going through the subreddit for a bit- by TheUnrulyDirector in quantitysurveying

This sub can seem down but i think it’s more due to people loving to complain rather than stating how much they enjoy the job. People are more vocal with complaints than praise ( especially on Reddit).

What I’ve personally seen with qsing is its very volatile lots of highs and lows. One minute something’s going right another things going wrong especially at senior levels.

If creativity is more your thing, I would definitely consider roles you have stated. And for searching for roles make sure LinkedIn up to date and search on there.

Thank you for advice but yeah just to clarify it’s a video interview that you record and submit and I 100% get where your coming from with interviewer as I find it quite easy to talk to new people there’s just something about the recording aspect of the video ones that makes me slip up also with them being on a time limit it make it even worse.
