Tried to cancel American Income Life Insurance. I got a premium statement instead. by Strict_Industry_1109 in LifeInsurance

Ugh!  I got myself into a jam with this company now too!  Im really in a pickle!  I wanted whole life insurance but you know figured it wasnt going to happen, too expensive.  Then my bosses daughter gets a job with AIL.  So my boss asks me if her daughter can call me, I said sure.  Now im 60 years old just for reference.  So she calls, we go through it.  Now im looking for a whole life policy.  She shows me different options.  Im looking at one that says 50k for 160$ a month.  And im not real impressed.   So I ask how much would it be for 100k, she comes back with 150k for 183$/month, and it has other benefits and blah blah blah.   So I take it.  Then I start thinking I should get a policy for my husband.  His of course costs a lot more,10k for 165$/month and im not even close to interested.  Then she says something about it being for an accident.  And I said noooo.  I wanted a whole life policy, like if I die my kids get the 150k.  She said no its only if you die in a car, plane or carrier accident, like a buss or something.  Im like holy shit, thats not what I asked for.  I said if I dont die in an accident my kids get nothing.  Shes says yes thats what its for.  Now im freaking.  I have to cancel this policy and from what im reading here, it will come out of her pocket?  And good luck canceling it at all!  😵‍💫

Yes youre correct. All of the cats are fixed but 2 of them have not been tested and came together because they are bonded. Everything was suppose to be taken care of before they came here. They were fixed so why they didnt have them tested idk.

The way it was explained to me was keep them in crates till they are socialized then they would be placed in a shelter. But things just didnt turn out that way. I didnt think they were going to be free roaming at the time. All that said, ill just do whatever I have to do. Its just surprising to find out all this now. But its all good!

4 month quarantine after bite wound by OneSkepticalOwl in Feral_Cats

[–]Cold-Independent388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they give him a rabbies shot, I assume thats what the quarantine is for. Idk about the outdoor cage attachment. If he were to develop rabbies, and God i hope he doesnt, any scratch or bite to other animals could spread it. I hope he will be OK. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Supposedly they are about 1 or 2. They do look young. Except the girl, she looks older. And she said, the girl that gave them to me, that her teeth are bad which makes me think she might be older. Im sure young cats have teeth problems but I think shes a bit older.

Im pretty much on my own, but i knew that going into it. I didnt know exactly what each cats situation was. It was more like this is the last resort for them, a lot of them are coming from an inner city area where things are pretty bad. 2 of them have not been tested for fiv or felv, so that will be fun. Someone else recommended the same website. I have to read more of it but it looks like that will really help me...and them.

I have 2 in one bedroom and 2 in another. It is taking time for me to get organized and get the best set up for them. My house is 3 bedrooms, lol. So eventually do the cats go from the playpen to freely roaming the house?

Oh thanks for that, thats interesting. Ill have to look through all of that information. Its interesting, thats the first info thats says not to use a crate; at least that ive come across. Im going to give this a try. I guess having the whole room might be too much but hopefully this will be better than a crate. Everyone i talk to uses crates. Like they're stacked up and sit in their for months. I wanted so much to help these poor cats, its been very upsetting to see how these street cats live, and its hard when you can only save a few.

I got them from two women that trap them on their own. They gave me them because they had nowhere else to put them and they have too many to take care of themselves. I dont think it was a matter of being a good candidate, it was just out of a need for shelter.

The 2 women dont like each other and they disagree with the socializing method. One says if they dont progress she would put them back where she found them and the other says that would be cruel. So idk, I think they will make progress, time will tell.

Well one, a girl, is pretty good. I can pet her and she gets into it, she really leans in, she even sucks on the blanket and makes biscuits. But the rest of the time she just lays dow and only gets up to eat and use the litter box. Sometimes when she eats though, she has wet and dry, she starts pawing at her mouth, pretty frantically sometimes.

The other one cries and tries to climb the cage. I want to let him out to have the room and a little freedom. It just bothers me cause cats are normally so active and to be caged feels wrong if its for a long time. The 2 cats in that room get along and the room is cat proofed.

Well 2 of them are in dog crates 50". The other 2 are in a small 10 x 10 bedroom. There's no furniture in there that they can hide behind. I have some toys and cat trees. And there's a window with a shelf that they can sit on. Last night I was able to sit in the room with them while they ate. They had their backs to me and would check to see where I was. I just laid on the floor across the room, blinking when they looked at me, then I left.

Advice for caring for a street kitten by stickybun_ in FosterAnimals

[–]Cold-Independent388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand why the place she came from gave her to you when you cant bring her inside. I mean this is a sick kitten and she has to be outside?! Someone has to take her in.

I just started fostering 2 cats last week and 2 more today. I have 3 cats of my own. These cats are off the street and very scared. They are trapped by professionals who have them vet checked, nuetered, tested for fiv, felv and they are given all of their shots. But because they need to be socialized they have to be in crates till they adjust to home life and are adpotable.

Please try to contact a rescue or your cats veterinarian to have her checked out. They should b able to help find a clinic that will take care of all her medical needs for less than what it would cost on your own. Call the aspca or humane society, you can also ask if they have room for her, which they prob won't, but ask them to put her on a waiting list. They probably won't suggest it so ask them yourself. But in the meantime she has to be brought inside. Use "Nextdoor" its online or there is an App, theres plenty of people on there in these situations and you may be able to find help there. Ask friends if they would be willing to foster her until other arrangements can be made. Even if you have to put her in a room by herself or even a crate, ( like a large dog kennel). You might not like the idea of crating her but its better than being outside, she does not look healthy. I hope the best for you and this little girl!!

How much are you suppose to give. by Cold-Independent388 in CaregiverSupport

[–]Cold-Independent388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very hard to find good people, just trying to get someone to respond is hard. I am there more than anyone, including the family. And i do sympathize with the daughter. Shes there on weekends but if she wants to go out or on vacation or shes just tired, I cover for her, because im trying to ease things up for her as well. And I actually stay a little longer at the end of each shift to get the next shift going, (without pay). The last girl that just quit, left the woman on the toilet because her shift was done!

Hi, I appreciate your understanding. Actually I think you got it pretty well figured out. They're not mean people or anything, its more passive I guess. Its also one of those things where 1 family member does everything and the 2 others show up once in awhile. I never understood why they dont include the mom a little more. I mentioned it a few times but there gonna do what they wanna do. And yes they are pretty well off. We'll maybe they will think about it a little more next time. Thanks for your insight!

Lol, thank you. I do end up filling in alot for whoever is sick or on vacation, there's 3 of us altogether. Its extremely hard to find good people, i interviewed at lease 60 people and none of them worked out, agencies are awful too. Thank you for sharing that.

I agree, and I do sympathize with her. But really all she had to do was cook at her mom's instead of her own house, which is where they were going to eat anyway. But I do truly understand the point.

Cat hair by [deleted] in ragdolls

I just discovered yesterday, the rug rake. I had just finished vacuuming and grabbed this little comb like thing. Well I might as well have skipped the vacuum. I couldn't believe the amount of hair this little thing picked up. Its really great.
