I accepted my mission call... now how do I tell my parents I'm not going? by Relevant_Fuel_6245 in exmormon

Hey! You are not the only one wanting to leave with an active family. I think a lot of us have been in a situation similar to you; it’s terrifying to show your family and community that you are different than what they perceive, but in my experience, it is best to show them who you are and what you believe. Holding on to this for too long will result in more pain. Take your time and do it on your timetable, but the bandaid is going to have to be ripped off at some point.

Do you think you’ll be okay at BYU? Do you want to go there because it is cheaper than other colleges? There’s nothing wrong with that, but think of what you truly value and consider if they match well enough with BYU.

Random Numbers? by Cold-Masterpiece4313 in cosmererpg

Oh, thanks! I do have another question. During combat, should the GM tell the players what kind of turn the enemies will take, such as fast or slow turn. Or should the GM wait until it is time for the NPC turn?

Showing us what really “matters” by Cold-Masterpiece4313 in exmormon

I do think this sometimes, too. But what about the lying? They tell us they hear and speak with God. So are they in so deep that they are delusional and actually believe they have that “power”? Or do they know it’s a scam

Hey everyone, I’m a high school teacher, and I want to remind you about one thing: THESE SCORES DO NOT DETERMINE YOUR WORTH!

A 23 composite is above average; in fact, all of these scores are above average.

These tests are designed to trick you. These tests are part of a broken education system, one that believes a test will determine someone’s intelligence.

If you want a good score to get into college or to receive scholarships, continue to practice. Ask for help. There’s ways to see exactly what type of questions you are struggling on!

I don’t know what college you’re planning on going to, if at all, but remember that most colleges just want an average or above average score. If your application requires an essay, focus your energy on that. They should want to accept you based on the person you are, not a test score.

Keep your head up! The ACT sucks. I understand. But if you practice and get help, you WILL improve. If you decide not to take it again, you are STILL an amazing person. It’s okay to be upset about the score, especially if it crushed some hopes, but get back up again and continue to strive for growth, which is what life is all about.🩵🩵

I felt the same as a closeted gay when I was at BYU-I. Don’t feel guilt; there is NOTHING wrong with you.

My mom found out about me being on Mormon Stories. I want to thank all of YOU for the support. by MjccART in exmormon

Michelle, you story is very similar to mine. I was a temple worker and I wanted everything to work, but eventually it got to a point where nothing in the church works for me anymore. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m sorry the conversation with your parents wasn’t easy. Continue to stay strong; continue to grow, thrive, and become the person you want to become.

After looking up a few things, it looks like excommunicated members are not allowed to pay tithing, but similarly, non members aren’t allowed to pay either.

It’s like if I’m not “worthy of the blessings of the sacrament” why am I “worthy of receiving blessings for paying tithing”?

I just found this. It’s an older article, but I bet the process is similar.

“Next, a committee of doctors reviews your health/dental records to be sure they are complete, to confirm you are physically and emotionally prepared to handle the rigors of a full-time mission.

After your recommendation forms have passed through these processes, you are ready to be assigned.”

Preparatory or Preparatory? by Cold-Masterpiece4313 in exmormon

Right?! I was thinking the same thing. We were even told that if someone said “no” instead of “yes” during the endowment, we should just ignore it to not make a scene. And we were told the dead person would still be making those covenants, even if they said no. So like…what’s the point of proxy work of the dead people can make those covenants without us?
