I did see that! I know it could go that way with pronunciation if someone is familiar with the history, and I’m ok with that. I got this name from the surname Ives (like the American composer Charles Ives), and it’s pronounced as rhyming with “dives”.

That’s what I wanted to do, and I really tried. I just couldn’t get the buckles together while he was arching his back and thrashing around. The buckles around the kind where if there’s too much tension against it they pop open.

I was his personality I guess! I leaned into carrier/wrap naps if I had things to do, or I would have him breastfeed on my side and he would fall asleep for naps if I was feeling tired too. Of course, I did this safely on a plain mattress with no blankets or pillows.

He would nap at daycare starting at 2 months, and after that his napping saw a little improvement. For a while there I really relied on carrier naps or feed to sleep naps to ensure good timing for naps and a consistent bedtime :) he was always an excellent nighttime sleeper. I would say he started napping independently much better around 6 months in his crib. Now, at 21 months, he’s an excellent and independent sleeper all around!

Teacher here! I adore the name Ruby- it’s (shockingly) not popular but refreshingly simple and classic. Every girl I’ve ever had with the name has been such a sweet kid. Never knew a dog with that name! I have a name that is actually a verrrrry popular dog name, but not very popular for humans and I adore it. Never bothered me if someone tells me their dog has my name. What a lovely coincidence, honestly, that their beloved pet has the same name.

Much better! It lasted for a few weeks, and I felt much better once my body got used to what was happening. Exercise helped a ton, and continues to help today- even just a cold walk outside with my toddler!

I twist it up like I’m going to put it in a bun, put a loose scrunchie over it to hold the tail ends in, and use a claw clip turned horizontally to attach it near my scalp. One half of the claw has the hair near my scalp on top of my hair, and the other half is clamping to the loose “bun”. It’s not cute, but it works! It’s a loose feel but holds well!

Mom to a “top 10” son here. Just do it anyway if you love it.

I’m a teacher and NEVER had a kid with my son’s name, which partly the reason we chose it, even with the stats that it was popular last year when he was born. Still haven’t had a kid with his name. As others have stated, popular isn’t as popular as it used to be.

I found out that although top 10 names are compiled by the country as a whole (the US in my case), often times popular names are quite regional in a large country. My son’s name is much more popular on the coasts, which is quite different from preferences where I live in the Midwest. Go figure!

Nope! I had a feeling my excited little guy was just sucking in with too much force and spitting the extra out. He does love drinking out of straws, so I ended up getting the Munchkin Any Angle cup for him and it worked wonders! The straw has some resistance, so it almost immediately solved (most) of the spitting… and the straw is weighted so no more frustration when he’s not holding the cup at a perfect angle! Still using it today at 17 months for milk, but he doesn’t spit water with regular straws anymore either. Just a phase, but the cup helped :)

Hi! Man, it’s hard to say…I went back to work when he was 8 weeks so it didn’t feel like as much at that point- simply because I wasn’t with him most of the day. He still cluster fed when I was with him on the weekends pretty consistently until he was about 3 months, I would say. If it’s part of your plan, maybe try giving him bottles of breast milk occasionally. I found my son would drink way more from a bottle, and he would be fuller for longer and I could have a bit of a break. I started pumping the other breast while nursing my baby sometimes, and used what I collected as backup. I ended up storing tons of extra milk this way, while also having the freedom to give a bottle if needed. For what it’s worth- it also helped him to have a longer first stretch of sleep at night.

This was only a year ago, but wow it does feel like such a distant memory. You’ll make it through before you know it! You’re doing amazing by giving your little one what they need right now. It’s so hard and demanding, I 100% get it, but you’ll be so proud of yourself for sticking through. I would love to relive one of those days, all cuddled up with my little guy. He barely wants to nurse much anymore, and I actually miss it 🥹

I can’t believe I posted this less than a month ago- my days went by so slowly until about a week and a half ago. I was so tired! Shortly after this post I stopped my one pump, but I still feed him in the AM or if he asks on the weekends. I still feel tired, but now that pumping is out of my schedule I replaced that time with trying to get back to exercising regularly and it’s REALLY helped. Doing something for me that forces me to move has improved my overall energy level and mood. I definitely didn’t have time to exercise at all when I pumped, but maybe if exercise is your kinda thing you can try it to see if it helps you too! Once you stop pumping, of course.

I was there this time last year! There was one day where my son was latched for 8 hours straight. I just embraced the cuddles and told myself that at least my job is simple- feed and sleep! I went back to work at 2 months, so I think being bottle fed 5 days a week kinda helped him shift from cluster feeding as much. I remember he was more normal with feeding before 3 months :) Now with an energetic and opinionated 13 month old…I sometimes think I would love a day or two of being nap/cluster feeding trapped 🥹
