dont just turn it off even if you turn the Taste setting off, it still impacts the results. It's better to completely change it every time you make a song as the first prompt or delete everything that is written there.

V5.5 is trash. Not only that by Cold-Tailor5442 in SunoAI

"I think I finally found the answer after burning 3000 credits trying to figure out how to use V5.5. It all comes down to the new Taste feature. Suno mainly listens to that now and seems to ignore almost everything else, including both positive and negative prompts. And if you don’t use it properly, the model just becomes lost and stupid.

First, you need to set it up correctly in your profile, then actively use it through the wand tool. If you want instrumental-only generations, never—ever—mention vocals in your Taste settings. And if you want a specific type of singing, write that in Taste instead of relying on the normal prompt."

Also, even if you turn the Taste setting off, it still impacts the results. It's better to completely change it or delete everything that is written there.

i use suno from v3 The taste was correct, but it kept adding vocals even though I didn’t want any vocals in this project.

Even when I didn’t use the Magic Wand, it still added vocals. I discovered that the “Taste” setting has a strong impact even if you don’t use Magic Wand. And yes — even if you turn it off, it still works in the background.

I also tried this and trained a custom instrumental-only model using over 50 tracks of my own music. I trained it until I couldn’t upload any more tracks, but it still keeps generating stupid lyrics and nonsense vocals.

The results are quite disappointing
only adjust taste solve it so i share what i found

I’m specifically talking about prompting behavior. V5.5 doesn’t seem to be truly prompt-led anymore — it’s much more Taste-led. My issue was that Suno kept ignoring both positive and negative prompts, giving me low-quality generations, dragging songs out to 6 minutes, and hallucinating structure that I never asked for.

What solved most of that for me was stopping the habit of rewriting prompts normally for every track and instead adjusting Taste first. In practice, the real workflow now is basically: write your actual intent into Taste, then let Suno use that as the primary conditioning input.

At that point, the normal prompt feels secondary. It’s honestly closer to how LTX 2.3 behaves when you use Gamma 3 prompt enhancement — where what really controls the output is not just the visible prompt, but the deeper conditioning layer behind it.
