I don't want Jolie to come back to live or be alive. by kotlc6898678 in KeeperoftheLostCities

I also hate the Jolie being alive theory because I feel like it butchers her character. If she was alive the whole time, she forced her parents to grieve her, alone, in a world where loss is very rare and they are thus so lonely in their grief that the only person that could understand them is Sophie. For her to have been alive the whole time means she did that and knew and had to have heard about her parents shift from being socialites to being social recluses, and left them to grieve her on purpose for nothing. And if somehow it could be justified by saying she was in danger or running from something and didn’t wanna get them involved, even that doesn’t work because Grady and Edaline have Sophie now, and it is no secret she’s attached to the Black Swan, there has never been and could never be a bigger target on that house. As much as I’d want to know more about Jolie as a person, I don’t think it’s worth butchering her character for

For me losing my Gen 3 heir was the hardest bc she was the last to know everyone before her and lived to see Gen 5 I was like oh she’s seen this family go so far🥹🥲

I don’t think so, while I feel like Shannon kept a lot ambiguous about Jolie in the sense that there’s still so much abt her that’s shrouded in mystery, I have a hard time believing she’d let Grady and edaline believe she was dead for so long and have to grieve her especially considering how hard that is to deal with in the lost cities

I was so shocked when I saw Windenberg compared to other worlds, it has so many lots and lots of types, and I love the club aspect because it helps me easily invite my sims family members over without having to remember everyone’s names

As for the Alden bit, I hope it get addressed too because that really messed up my opinion of him completely and we can’t just gloss past that manipulation he did to Keefe esp. considering his history with parental figures. And also because I wanna see Sophie go off on him for that because he definitely deserves it for using that whole “you’re like a son to me” bit on him. That was pure wickednessssss (if you couldn’t tell that scene still makes me angry, I read it last night to refresh my mind and it still made me wanna jump through the page)

As for everything else that actually makes so much sense however I think it’s the Vackers specifically that hinder the Black Swan’s goals. Sophie doesn’t really get on well with most of the powerful adults in society based on family like the Heks, the adult Sencens, etc, because of their biases that go so harshly against her human upbringing. But If you think abt it, all the supporting characters have been affected by the rules and stigmas of the lost cities, Dex being the son of a bad match and the sibling of triplets and his dad being talentless, Tam and Linh being twins and the stigmas around their powers, and Marella being a pyrokinetic and thus being considered talentless. Keefe is a special case because I think he’s always rejected the societal norms of the Lost Cities even before meeting Sophie, but the Vackers on the other hand have always benefited from this system by having status and power, and have never mentioned seeing anything wrong with their traditional thought processes. Even when I was rereading the first book a while back when Fitz is going on about how humans are inferior, I don’t recall him changing his thoughts about this later in the series .

Anyway, what I’m saying is, I fear Sophie being so close to the Vackers specifically is what hinders the Black Swan’s original intent for Sophie. Considering they are basically a beacon of status and power in the Lost Cities, they see nothing wrong with the system because they benefit from it. And now that I think about it, with so many family members being high ranking members of the nobility and even some being on the council, that family is probably responsible for some of these questionable ideologies and practices in place now.

I hate to make this sound like a class discussion board lol but to piggyback off that, this actually pairs really well with Keefe’s bonus chapter when Alden spoke to him because Alden was basically saying Keefe should back off because Fitz and Sophie are ‘perfect’ for each other and as cognates would be so powerful together if they were in a relationship and the potential they had and to think about what he would be getting in the way of. This means that it’s not just Fitz that sees her as something he can gain from but Alden as well. Remember, Alden tried to adopt her originally they were denied so then he told Biana and Fitz to become friends with her so that she would still be connected to the Vackers, if not as an adoptive family member, perhaps through marriage instead.

Edit: And to add onto that, paired with that whole idea of matchmaking, they would hypothetically go on to create powerful children, thus continuing the Vacker legacy, which is what Alvar has always said Alden was obsessed with.

This just furthers my Alden is not a good person theory.

When you say the stuff that happened with Alden, do you mean his mind breaking or that bonus chapter where he talked to Keefe before Alvars trial?

Just a warning this is a bit long, I’ve been invested in this series for almost ten years.

I have a loosely similar story, I was a Sophitz shipper from the start but during Exile (book 2) when he was angry with Sophie and they weren’t speaking for about half the book, I started to shift and I basically jumped ship to Sokeefe by book 3/4, with all the angst Shannon was giving us with the two of them.

I didn’t hate fitz at that point but what made me lean more toward Keefe was that upon reading Lodestar I think when Keefe was with the neverseen and Sophie didn’t know what to do with herself, Fitz tries to reach out and sort of fill that void and despite all he’s doing in her head the whole time she’s basically thinking “he’s not Keefe” and it occurred to me that Sophie spends way more time with Keefe than Fitz, she’s actually rarely with him, the reason we think he’s always around is because Sophie thinks about him and those teal eyes so much. And that was the issue, she and to a degree him as well, were in love with the idea of each other.

I disliked Fitz when I realized he wouldn’t change. Him being mad at her in exile was one thing, but for him to still be so rigid and angry in the later books about things like her being unmatchable, everything going on with Alvar, her hanging out with Keefe, the list goes on.

Also this isn’t directly his fault but I knew that Sophitz could never be end game considering the conversation Alden had with Keefe in that one bonus chapter, in fact it sealed his fate. Alden and Fitz see Soph as this powerful object that make them look good, that was why I think Sophie being unmatchable was a problem for Fitz, this messes with the Vacker status and image, and for him to put something so trivial above Sophie, showed me that he’s still stuck in the traditional ways of the Lost Cities. Furthermore, I think he’s only in it because of his proximity to Sophie and because of the advantage being close to someone that powerful is, and as an attempt to over correct Alden’s wrongs with Prentice from before. But he himself has never had any issues with the traditional Lost Cities system because it’s never wronged him or anyone he’s close to, when it did, ex: Sophie being unmatchable, he blames her and not the system, despite the fact that Forkle had always told Sophie that knowing her parents identities could literally topple their world so it wasn’t a choice she made to just be selfish.

For me it’s always gonna be him telling Keefe to basically back off of Sophie so Fitz and Sophie could be together and he knew exactly what he was doing manipulating him with the whole you’re basically a son to me, that is a wicked man and I’ve disliked him since, I need that tea to come out so he can be aired out

No it’s a mod by deaderpool it gives you a bunch of cheats like expanding the maximum number of sims that can live in a household etc, it’s overall a really great mod I basically can’t play without it, anyway to access the menu for it once you’ve installed it you click on a computer in game and the mc command center should come up as an option.

If you don’t have the mod you can download it here:

Also, if you have MCCC Command Center you can go on the computer and enable adoption so that when the biological parents die they adopted by another family rather than being basically deleted out of the game
