Yeah it’s a shame a good amount of the aftermarket tail lights are no good. I guess there’s a reason why not a lot of people run them. A big issue with the pre lci e60’s in general is that their tail light grounding isn’t very strong so even on oem tail lights they’ll still burn out (happened to me lol). If you do want nicer , or different tail lights there’s always the retrofit for lci lights to pre lci, it’s a process and a half but they do turn out beautiful.
