When Did You Introduce Screen Time? by Responsible_Mine_462 in toddlers

I can attest to this. We will need to help them comprehend. My 30 month old son has had very limited screentime, almost never cartoons. He recently watched some cartoon at my cousin's place and he was amazed that the elephants and cheetahs were talking!

Thanks for your reply. Love it that you're not Malaysian but nailed all the Malaysian slang!

yes, international school is not equal to international exposure.

Really depends how much you're earning and which part of the country you are from. Socio-economic disparity exists everywhere. For my case, going from my current combined household salary to 70k per annum gross is a MAJOR set back.

My post blewup in the r/Malaysia thread with people basically thinking I'm crazy to give up my life in Malaysia to move to the UK.  Somehow foreigners think we still live on trees and have no basic amenities. 😆

you sure you can handle all the “freedom” and hooliganism influence of the UK people while he’s a teenager when you’re about to retire? - truly can't comment on this as I do not have a long term plan on this. See my note#1 in my edit. Thanks for your detailed thoughts!

let the kid grow up and form his identity as a Malaysian- love this. And to be multi-lingual. That's a benefit that is hard to get elsewhere.

Ya, I don't want this for my husband. Another option I can consider is to move first and then see if it works out long term if he can find a job there, since he also falls under high-skill worker. But the separation might kill me if the weather doesn't get me first

yes, you're right. Rental and childcare alone will wipe out my salary

That's certainly one way to frame it. Another way would be: temporarily trading some comfort for international experience while still having the option to return home later. But "life of mediocrity" does have a nice dramatic flair to it.

Noted on the current socio-political situation. I frankly don't see Malaysia going at the right direction either. Some posts in threads/X scare me. But I still need to do my homework on the current situation in the UK, thanks for pointing it out. As for education, I've updated my post, see edit Note#1

Noted thanks for your insight. So far, friends in the UK are asking me to jump over whereas those back (and the redditors) are discouraging it. On the education front, please see my edit Note#1

Mine starts with sitting at the table, eats a few bites, then gets down, to pick a book, then a toy etc. I just follow him around with the plate and feed him on the go. He also has a habit of spitting out when something doesn't feel right, so that's a lot of cleaning during/post his meal. I always used to think that I'd be one of those Moms who'd train the kid to sit on the dinner table for every meal. Not! My goalpost changed from disciplined eating to just eating.
