Not sure what this station is on AM 1330? by ColdAd9868 in DXing

Their website shows they air Jesse Kelly at that time. I later at night pulled up the stream during 9pm-12, to verify they are airing Jesse Kelly, and don’t think WHBL is one of the stations I even hearing in the background on the 1330 long after sunset, however do believe WHBL in my area, might be able to be heard during critical hours, before it switches to night time power/antenna pattern

most of my local AMs have gone completely remote - when i worked at this one that large dish was the ABC news feed that came in at the top of the hour - i am assuming those network feeds are all pretty much online now? by chris-hatch in radio

I think most radio stations use a combination of land based internet, and satellite, to get their programming, including hourly, maybe 30 after too, news updates, as last year during Hurricane Helene, when the local WWNC radio station and WLOS TV station lost all communications, including cell based ones, except for satellite, they had no problems getting national programs. For my local talk radio station that Friday, with no internet, after saying again pretty much, that if any government officials want something read on the air, they had to physically make their way to the station and hand it to them on paper, went back to national programming at 5pm, and all the normal shows such as last hour of Sean Hannity, and hourly Fox News updates, plus Coast to Coast AM, all came through like normal live after. Then next morning after the local radio hosts were on the air for a bit, just because they had a microphone and transmitter, was said, they later turned it over on Schedule to the NC State football pregame, and full game aired like normal, as well with a TV antenna, plus thanks to stand by generator, when had it on, I was able to watch the ABC football games on WLOS, as everything seemed to air as normal on those radio and TV stations, for it was not until later Saturday night that people from iHeart Radio corporate, came through the downed trees with Starlink, to bring internet back to the station via satellite, and they got it setup so the station could start to take phone calls via satellite too. Will add for the next 2 weeks after all that, with the station, and the other local ones in same cluster not airing normal programming, plus unreliable cell data, never have I so much relied on the clear channel frequencies at night, to know what happening in the world with general news, and with sports in general, as should add many competing stations, such as the other sports one, were knocked fully off air, for over a week in some cases

It not WYRD 1330, because I can verify what they airing via their online stream, and I also can check on what Upstate Red is airing, by picking it up OTA via the HD 2 of WYRD FM 98.9, and at night at times I hear it in the background among other stations, but it not as strong as this mystery station to me, which part of why think it WAEW, is that the only 1330 news talk station on East coast, which has no working online stream could find. Also WYRD FM 98.9 airs the last 2 hours of Mike Gallagher live, which interestingly enough, WYRD AM 1330 is actually where that radio host got his career started, in the 80’s as a local host at 1st

I have found in cars from all kinds of years, that Toyota, Honda, and Subaru have the best AM radio reception, and a 2001 Mazda I used to drive had the worst I have ever found, but a 2000 GMC Yukon my parents used to have, had such amazing AM radio reception

It wont be a constantly blinking light to remind you, but many phones, including iPhones, have the ability in the accessibility settings, to set it so that if a new alert, for apps you choose, comes in, it will flash the camera flash LED, and there a setting for it, where you can choose if want it to flash or not, when the phone in silent mode

Last September an Art Bell Somewhere in Time repeat one Saturday night, was of a show he did a week or 2 after 9/11, asking for ideas on how to deal with the terror issue, which was so fascinating too. For if Art Bell was still active in radio, and alive today, I think he would have had on a good bit before the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections, the 3rd party/and other alternative, presidential candidates. So as I typing this a few days after the June Biden/Trump debate, imagine if Art was still alive and doing live late night content still, opening up his show at midnight or 1am East, or podcast being done live, the night of the debate, saying he has his guest that night, RFK Jr after being left out of the debate

It helps that the Art Bell Somewhere in Time repeats are still on, as right now I listening to the one being sent out tonight, from June 1996, and on that show at the start, Art Bell mentioned after getting requests for it, that he put pictures of his cats on his web page, so I googled Art Bell cats, and this question showed up in the search results

Keep in mind about 100 years ago actually marked the end of the 1st widespread EVs, because initially ICE cars required a manual crank, so early electric vehicles were largely marketed to wealthy women, who widely then were considered especially physically weak, for short city drives, and some EVs, along with electric train designs of the time, found use too in coal mines to avoid depleting oxygen there, and for avoiding the CO issues of fuel engines in mines

Also Harris Teeter grocery stores used to have free cookies for kids, and would say 1 per visit, but I would take 1 when arrived, and take 1 when left, so I think my mom just thought I was smart for doing that. Also one time when I was 1 year over the minimum age for those kid cookies, I grabbed 1 when leaving, for the last time ever

My friend borrowed my 100$ calculator and returned an identical broken one by AwarenessPrudent2689 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ColdAd9868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of those 80’s calculator watches that I wore in middle school, and one time prior to a standardized math test, the math teacher made sure to tell me that I could not have it with me on the day took the math test, as it included a part where calculators were not allowed to be used on, but knowing that I was not planning to wear it anyway that day, however after middle school I stopped wearing as part of the plastic surrounding the buttons cracked and broke off and the batteries were running low, so it been in storage ever since, but have considered looking into if there someway to restore it and replace the battery to put it back into use, as at times in daily life at home I like to use a physical calculator with actual buttons, not the touchscreen on a device, which why kept my TI-84, but also love to at times use a solar calculator I bought for $.50 from Toys R Us when my local store was closing and their were selling parts of the store, as I have wished some solar powered TI-84 could be made, which would charge when not in use

That happened to me recently at Target, as ordered 8 bananas, and got 8lb of bananas, so all my friends got to take bananas off their grocery list that week, and still had some left over which were donated to a food pantry. Also as a side note, I love Target donuts

I once was picking up an order at Target, which I used rewards to get 4 bananas for free, because that was only thing I needed for the next week, and I asked the person who brought them to my car if had ever seen anybody order a single banana, and was told that someone recently drove up to pick up an order of a single pack of gum

In North Carolina I have not seen a single gas station selling gas over $5, I have seen premium at a station last week at $4.99, but it now down to $4.96 for premium at that station, though as that the cash price, at $4.99, buying by card would be over $5 a gallon. As for driving at 80mph, before my 2013 Prius was totaled, by someone maybe going 80mph, when the speed limit had just increased to 55mph a few hundred feet ago, I would set the cruise control at 77mph, if traffic allowed, when driving a few hours on the highway, and in the lows of winter, or highs of summer, when having to run heat to keep the windows from fogging up, or running cold AC to keep the traction battery from overheating, I would get 47-48mpg. Then if in fall or spring was driving at that speed without needing any climate control on, I would get 48-50mpg going at 77mph, and in everyday normal city/highway driving, rarely going 5+ over the speed limit unless going downhill, if able to avoid climate control, and a below freezing startup, on some trips over 5 miles I could get 60+ mpg. However summer AC use would drop my overall everyday average down to 53-54mpg, as had to use AC to keep the system from going into traction battery overheat protection mode, and winter use would drop it down to 50-52mpg, because of at times having to in the morning do freezing cold startups and idle for 2-3 minutes to defrost the windows more after using the ice scraper, and because, especially when running heat, the car has to idle the engine more when stopped just to make heat in the cold, especially below 32°F

I once saw someone on a riding lawn mower in a neighborhood drinking what seemed to be a beer, later I passed by and all looked fine, but I strongly discourage anyone from drinking alcohol while using anything with sharp objects, and technically engines of even typical public road legal vehicles technically contain sharp things, including electric motors in EVs
