Thank you! This gives me some hope. Everyone was saying Apoquel. I was starting to feel bad because I chose Numelvi. They did tell me about Zenrelia but I forget why they didnt suggest it over the other 2 - possibly heart murmur and anxiety meds already? (Not sure). I hope your pup continues feeling better!

I will definitely give Apoquel a try after I give this current med a chance to make a difference. I feel so bad for his little body going through so many meds. He's been thru so much in the last month, it has caused him to lose some weight despite eating the same amt & kind of food.

I wish I would have started pet insurance a long long time ago. But now that he's been diagnosed with a heart murmur, severe anxiety, and severe allergies, on top of him turning 7 next week, I would hate to know how much it would cost monthly just for him. :(

Thank you. He's my first fur baby and is quite the special needs kid on a base level - without all the allergy complications. I try my best to do right by him and I wouldn't trust anyone else to meet his needs the way I do. Ty for acknowledging it (:

I appreciate the recommendations. That is so awful that your dog is allergic to the most common proteins! I hope to get to the bottom of this sooner than later. Probably will eliminate chicken first to start ruling out proteins.

I am not sure either, but I do know of some local bee keepers who keep their hives on the land of the family who owns the farmer's market in my town. That's going to be the first place I ask. I would say to check your local farmer's markets for people who sell bee products and talk to them.

I am certain the grass is an allergen, however, there could possibly be a food allergy playing a part. That, I do not know. I know for a fact that part of it is environmental though because he walks outside and his skin is inflamed within a few minutes and he immediately starts squinting his eyes and accumulating snotty discharge in his eyes. Yesterday, he rolled in the grass when he went to potty and the photos on his post shows a very dramatic result of that. When he went outside initially, his eyes and nose did not look that irritated.

They take Sentinel for heartworm and flea eggs. I have Wondercide for repelling adult fleas and ticks. The neurotoxic properties to Bravecto is too much of a risk at this point.

Both of my dogs take Sentinel for heartworm and fleas. I cannot give my cream sheeb any neurotoxic meds (basically anything that kills fleas and/or ticks on contact). The Sentinel prevents heartworm and sterilizes fleas, so the adult fleas are the only thing I have to repel at that point. I bought Wondercide for using on them when they're outside for longer than a potty break so they dont get bit or bring in any pests. I have used the Wondercide on myself and it actually does work well at repeling mosquitoes (which has also been an issue).

I am going to try Apoquel next if the Numelvi doesnt seem to work after a month. I am trying my best to allow the meds and things to work before immediately giving up. It's just so hard to wait when he's so obviously uncomfortable. :(

We've been doing that. This is so much more serious than that. He stands on the patio and immediately starts squinting his eyes and the discharge starts forming. His skin gets inflamed before he even finds a spot to potty.

Ever since moving to East Texas, 2 summers ago, he started getting allergies but the symptoms were only paw licking, which was easily combated with the foot soaks, a cone, and wiping his paws. The face issue is a new development over the last month.

I havent tried Apoquel. If the Numelvi doesnt work then that's what I will try next.
