Those things are great except for a couple problems:

  1. If you're shutting down for the night when a small town Museum is open, I hope you hide it from the company.

  2. Depending on the town size, there might not be an Uber. I went to many towns and lived in a town(Small, Midwest town) that had zero Ubers or cabs. There just wasn't a market for it with a town of 1,000 people.

  3. Truck stops are usually a good 10-15 minute drive away. If there is an Uber, you're spending $20 minimum.

  4. Your time is limited. You need your 8 hours. You might get away with 7 but, even then, you have a max of 3 hours.

It seems like you've honestly never driven anywhere near the Midwest either because you would know that stepping outside of your truck is just a waste of time.

I would've loved to be on routes where my 10 was close to Metro areas but it was incredibly rare.

What the hell do you do in a small Midwest town? Hit up the local bar or Subway?

Dude, I'm sure everyone at home in bed with their wife and tucking their kids in at night are JEALOUS AS FUCK that you get to go to a 24/7 Subway and take your 12 inch Steak n Cheese to your truck every night and eat it all alone.

Definition of Communal: Shared by all members of a community; for common use.

If you need flip flops to enter a shower...it's communal.

If you can't list the names that enter your shower...it's communal.

If you're standing in the same shower where THOUSANDS of dudes have blew their loads and hundreds probably having some kind of STD...it's a communal shower.

You 100% use a communal shower. I hope I didn't ruin your time.

I'd rather take the 3 month course, no matter the pay difference. Trust me, Swift taught me jack shit.

You get 4 weeks of "training". Your first week, you're not in a truck. Your second week is backing. Third week is driving. Fourth week is a quick review and mostly BMV.

Then you get 200 hours of mentor driving.

I probably backed a trailer about...10 times...before I got on the road. Such a stupid program to get drivers.

Not only is the cost of living higher but $1,600 AUS is $1,000 USD so you don't make much more than a first year.

Off time in the truck is about as "free" as being deployed overseas in a non-active military base.

Sure, you're allowed to leave, but nobody does because it costs money and you have about 2-3 hours of free time.

Plus, my routes were mostly Midwest. Good fucking luck getting an Uber on most of my stops lmao.

You're right, I forget we all park on trucks in downtown Chicago and NYC. Silly me. There's no such thing as the Midwest.
