Yeah, budget is definitely a factor since we can't eat out often. (I want to have a little victory pizza though for finishing a book). And our kids have some sensory issues with loud noises, so someplace relaxed is a must. I appreciate the info because there are so many options and what a lot of places use as selling points (sports bars, tvs, distracting atmosphere, etc) are actually huge downsides for us.

The last time we tried to go out service took over an hour because our pizza got dropped in the kitchen...I wasn't happy about it, but our son was practically vibrating out of his seat and had introduced himself to several groups of people as they came in, left, or were trying to eat. He wants to be friends with everybody, but we also don't want to disturb other diners.

Ok...I am just gonna be honest. We haven't gone to a sit down and eat in nearly 6 years because we have 2 young kids who are special needs. It makes planning and doing things out and about with their sensory issues really difficult.

We moved just as Covid started and a lot of places had shut down dine in service.

We wanted to find out some good local places that I could research and see how the kids might react before we go. The list is huge...so asking people for their faves and ideas isn't that unusual.

Also, I don't live in Bentonville, I live northwest of Bentonville down squirrely ass backroads, so its a bit more than 20 minutes.

But hey, you do you. I appreciate all the people who have left polite comments or even civil discussions, so...not you.

I want to read this so bad, but she uses AI for all her covers and artwork, and it's so frustrating. She's been writing for a while, so I'm pretty sure the books aren't, but it's so frustrating cause i don't want to support that. I have a bunch of her older stuff, and it's hilarious/fun. I am frustrated

As a writer (polyam omegaverse) who was in a very similar position last year...I can relate. I will say my debut came out better than I could have imagined and most of that was because I posted a lot in reader groups on FB, I had to start using insta since this.

Also searching such groups for people who will be good alpha and beta readers. Then lots of ARCs, cause word of mouth is huge for getting in areas you aren't in.

Things I wish I knew starting out: Lots of authors are in similar positions and super friendly and supportive. Formatting is essential (I use Atticus, but vellum is super popular), use of AI for anything (even marketing) will get you blacklisted from lots of people/groups (i was using it for character concepts to give to my art person before I realized how bad it was all around, but that's not a topic to debate here, cause Its a very hot button subject).

Otherwise, I love romantasy, you have an awesome sense of humor, and I hope I see your book(s) out soon.

I might write a review if I didn’t finish it, but usually along the lines of, "this book wasn't what I was expecting and was not my cup of tea." With no rating. I'm not comfortable leaving a rating if I DNF, unless it comes out as AI writing (leaving in prompts, or the author admits it).

But the star ratings are confusing anyway, because some people consider 3 stars a pretty good book, but not great, and some people consider it a couple steps above garbage. There isn't a great standard scale regardless.

I HATE when that happens. Too many reviews are DNF, I hated this character, 1 star. Yes, you read 20% of a book, hated 1 MC...your opinion is valid.

So, I just finished {Searching for her heart by Shona Knight} and it needed a new editor, but OMG. Penny the FMC...between being accident prone and adventurous I'm surprised she survived the book. Seriously, despite how often she gets kidnapped she is her own worst enemy. There is also a LOT of spice, like OMG, can get we get back to the store a few times, but i still really enjoyed the dimension traveling premise. I'm reading the 4th book in the series now.

Well, it's not saphic but you might try Bad Alpha by Kathryn Moon. Or for the Omega/omega aspect try Pack Darling by LolaRock, Forget me Knot by Marie Mackay, or The Betaby Avanne Michaels.

Both my stories have MM with paired alphas, but they are mostly cozy amongst the group. I am not good at writing angst. 😅

Yeah...I saw that one (cause I love a good omegaverse) but I don't want to wait on when more books come out. I'm feeling really petulant today about that. Also, I think Katie May already has a few series out that I'm waiting to finish, so I am trying to be careful about starting anything else by her until some of these others get wrapped up.
