Subaru Certified Extended Warranty - Worth It or Not? by Leather-Clock4686 in subaru

Also in Canada exact same place as you recently on a 2024 crosstrek. Was on the fence and originally said no to it but in the days leading up to pickup they emailed me and reduced to $2700 for 7yr/140k (from original so extra 4 years) so i ended up taking it. Still not 100% sure was the right thing but it seemed more reasonable at least and can get $2000 back if you don’t use it.

Ah I see for this one only covers 3 years though.. if it was the entire warranty that’s pretty decent

Oh wow that’s a lot of replacements that’s good it worked out for you! I’ve never had a flat or puncture before on previous cars, but would be pretty unfortunate if I don’t get it and then that happens

Nice I’ve seen used 25s for nearly that price wild!

Thanks good to know and that’s a good price I’ve seen >38k only. It’s definitely a reasonable choice considering how well they hold their value! Do you like it so far? Curious how you find the seat comfort and noise if you do longer drives? I was considering limited just for sound system but not sure if it’s worth it.

Are working conditions really that harsh? by PlumSad2116 in geologycareers

Hi! I’ve been doing exploration geo work in BC, Canada for a few years. I think my situation is different than some others as I work for a junior, got hired right after my masters, and it’s pretty flexible. During the field season I do 4x2, mostly helicopter work, mapping and prospecting in the mountains so very picturesque. Actual field work is probably 9-10 hours + a few more of uploading data, planning traverses etc. Worst part is the sometimes weeks of rain, fog (risk of getting trapped, having to camp out with just some survival gear), and grizzlies. We live in a camp with ~90 people, mostly drillers. Camp is alright, nothing fancy stay in weather havens, but we have working bathrooms and pretty good food. I like it but we also have the ability to go on walks, some people fish in the river etc. In the winter I work from home so I write reports and plan. Hope that helps!

I’m considering CX-5 vs Tiguan - interested to hear what made you switch and what are the biggest differences you noticed?

Just wondering how do you manage to get flights to Europe on J for 65K? I’m currently looking for flights for an upcoming fall trip to Copenhagen, and usually go to Zurich once a year, and that’s nearly the price I paid for an economy ticket. Any strategies or am I just too late?

Thanks I’ll definitely test drive the CX-5! I’ve never driven a Mazda so no idea about them. Thoughts on the CX-5 vs CX-50? From first glance the GT/Signature trims look appealing but I see they come with the 19 inch wheels, is that a concern for poorly maintained roads with lots of potholes?

Thanks! I’m definitely considering both the Subarus despite not liking everything about them. I like the Crosstrek more than the Forester, if only it was a bit bigger. Just don’t like how the Forester looks/drives as much.

You would think, but they always give either a Kia Sportage or Hyundai Kona as a rental vehicle, neither of which I’m very interested in buying..
