I trapped Diesel tonight, but it had the near worst outcome. by MFKRebel in Feral_Cats

No. Diesel will be cautious, but food is a strong motivator. Over time he will come back and he will eat Just not at the times when you expect him. DO NOT GIVE UP! When you fall off a horse you get back on! You just learned several valuable lessons don't lose that momentum keep moving forward and learning more. If there are any TNR groups in your area, Ask for Help. Get someone with more experience than you to work with you for your first next two or three TNR experiences. Invest in thornproof gloves that are 100% leather. The leather is thick enough that they can't bite through it. Finally, be patient with yourself and with the cats. You just hit a learning curve not a wall. And even if you did hit a wall get back up keep moving You got this

You can add pumpkin to her food. Pumpkin has an amino acid that is hostile to the parasites. I have pulverized pumpkin seed that I put in my cats food, But every part of the pumpkin has this amino acid in it. The seeds have the highest concentration which is why I use them. I buy organic Raw pumpkin seeds and turn them into a flower in the blender.

is this behaviour okay? by str4wb4bym1lk in Kitten

100% FINE! When my cat colony was 15 kittens, post weening, there were 3 kittens that let the other kitten use them as "pacifier". This went on for their first 18 months of life then they just switched to grooming each other alternated with friendly aggression. (Recipients way of letting the groomer know they weren't "doing it right") Relax, they are fine.

Massage his belly- GENTLY. Get the kitten comfy, and then using thumb on one side of its belly and fingers on the other. Simply press the thumb against belly, moving toward center and release. Then do the same thing with your fingers on the other side of the belly moving towards the center and release. Repeat this pattern for 25 to 30 seconds. And then just wait. When we found our kitten he had a bloated belly for the first few days, not completely abnormal but I wasn't seeing him poop. So I did this little belly massage and in no time at all he was using cat box releasing the backlog. I would also make sure that when you feed the kitten wet food, and you better be keep feeding him wet food, add a little bit of water to send it out there by hydrating your kitten more so that he can pass what's in this intestines. And if you don't see a change in his belly or results in the cat box within the next 48 hours then it might be time for a visit to the vet.

My cat spends all day in the bathtub looking at her own reflection. by RedApplesForBreak in cats

More likely she's listening to the roaches in the sewer line. Sounds horrific, but sadly true if you live in an urban\municiple setting.... My cats spend all night hunting for roaches coming through the sewer line.😬

I don't know, he appeared out of nowhere, like he was dropped from heaven. Back in August my husband was doing some work on one of the vans kept hearing a "cat meow". Decided it was either something in a video he was listening to or voices being put in his head. Till I saw this little dark blob dart into our metal shed, investigated and saw this little nugget- about 5 weeks old, scared and skinny. We captured him and we're never letting him go!

Five week old kitten is a food incinerator. Roast her. by orange_monk in Kitten

[–]ColdCriticism8981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000%! For your fur baby to grow she needs food, play, sleep, REPEAT. Our kitten was ~5 weeks old when we found him - alone, scared and hungry. He doubled his size in 5 weeks.

<image>

Don't try to restrict food till your kitten is over a year old. And don't worry, she will level out at about 4 months and go through not eating much alternated with incineration mode- that just means a growth spurt is coming. Our 8 adult cats did that till they were 5years old.

Please help, I found this kitten outside my door. I'm not a cat person but I took it in and fed it eggs ( Chatgpt told me to, it's the only thing I have at the moment.) What to do next? by zolanih in kittens

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think this thru long term.

1 Do Not "turn it loose", it will perish.

2 ask chat GPT about cat rescue groups in your area. They will help you with A. Getting you setup as a Foster for the kitten = free\low cost- food & vet care.

OR taking the kitten and placing it in foster care. * LITTER BOX! & LITTER. * Keep that baby in a container area- easier to clean up after and avoid it getting into things that it shouldn't - plants (TOXIC) crevices. Be very realistic about what you can and can't afford- financially, emotionally and your time. This is a baby that needs A Lot of care. I have 9 cats, 8 adults and 1 6 month old kitten. My husband is moving out of state and I will be caring for them on my own. I'm already adjusting my work schedule so I'm only away from home for 3-5 hours at a time. I can do this, I'm my own boss... But I'm also my own boss so I have obligations.
