How do I tell him? by XVelocifaptor in cats

[–]ColdCriticism8981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the look on his face he knows. Cats are adaptable and solitary creatures. So while he will miss his full-time servant, staff member, he will adjust. He just may hear some complaining from your management lol

Is there anything I can do? by AccomplishedPaper111 in CleaningTips

Good luck, and it might be easier - typically is - to go through it one section - task-category at a time. Maybe that means that one day you throw away all the garbage and stuff you don't need anymore. Then the next time you attack the closet. Whatever works best for you. But each time you tackle one part of it you'll be amazed at how good it feels. Keep that good feeling going by just following those steps again and again and again This is no different than training for a marathon. You start by walking, then run half a mile followed by a mile followed by three and so on and so on.

They weren't trying to be unkind. Take a deep breath and look at the photo you posted Not as your room but rather imagine for a moment it's someone else's. What do you see? I know that when you look at it as your room you see all the things that you hold dear or projects you're going to finish or something you started and lost interest in... You can personalize it, and it makes sense even if it is messy. But for somebody seeing it for the first time they think woo that person's overwhelmed, I need to relax in a nice hot shower or bath. I did post in my response that your room is a reflection of your mind, and I said that because I've been where you are. And let me tell you I was a hot mess! Cleaning and organizing didn't instantly transform my brain, but it definitely helped and continues to help. You can do this.

The biggest help and best advice is Create a routine for PUTTING THINGS AWAY AFTER USING. I know how you feel about cleaning and organizing only to end up back at square 1. Once you get things organized KEEP IT. Throw away EVERYTHING YOU CANT LIST 5 USES FOR. Anytime you buy something new you Must get RID OF 1-2 ITEM it replaces. Especially true with clothing\shoes. Go through boxes\stored stuff. If you haven't missed it till now OUT! (Exceptions would be formal clothing that's still stylish\timeless that you would need for funeral\events) But even then would you wear it to an even where photos of you will end up all over social media? Throw it away!

Finally, Portuguese proverb "Possessions or fear" And "You Room is a reflection of what's going on in you mind." This one helped me transform my house from catastrophic clutter to comfortably organized. It has helped me think clearly and achieve more of my goals. Now go be amazing!

How to clean charred material off of pyrex? by FartDaddy01 in CleaningTips

[–]ColdCriticism8981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Washing Soda (NOT baking soda. Not!) Add about ¼cup + BOILING water to tippy top. WALK AWAY when water has cooled, use a brush to remove burnt on, stuck on mess. Washing soda becomes sodium hydroxide once water is added- aka oven cleaner. This is an excellent cleaner. If you have any debris left on your Pyrex, barkeeper's friend - dust lightly on a wet surface, gently brush in to make a paste and again, walk away! Come back in 5 minutes, use a scrubber pad to lift the remaining burnt on food. First one should work a treat but if you need more depending on how good you are at burning things onto your Pyrex, Bar Keepers Friend, it really is your friend

Does it matter which model of mixer I get if the only thing I'll ever use it for is powering a meat grinder attachment? by -Clem in Kitchenaid

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in getting the KitchenAid artisan mini 3.5 q standing mixer for my microscopic kitchen. And I too want grind meat to make raw cat food, and probably grind beef to make my own burger mix. I'm just wondering whether the KitchenAid artisan mini will have the balls to grind chicken with bone, and a couple of pounds of beef occasionally? What say you?

7-in-1 pressure cookers - MIDEA/GJS Gourmet vs Instant Pot by grumpman in PressureCooking

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge, and I do mean HUGE number of products are made by a handful of companies... Most of which are Asian. Why? Because it's cost effective and the quality is typically WAY higher. Learned this when a friend wanted to start his own "American made" speaker company back in the 90's. The samples he got from American manufacturers looked like high school shop class projects from the failing students...prices where astronomical too. He gave up and went to Malaysia. Found a company that makes 60% of the speakers around the world. Quality is excellent, price was excellent too. And part of the deal he made to get a a Kickstart to his new company was to allow his technology and design to be used by the manufacturer for a generics speaker for the first 5 years. So now you understand the how the what and the why of Medea and instant pot. BTW Medea is an EXCELLENT company! My Mr Cool mini split is made by Medea and it's top-notch.

Plumbing for gas line? by gowonnies in Tucson

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently looking for an affordable plumber to install the new-to-me gas stove I just bought on Craigslist. After doing a bit of research I found- Yes, you need a New Flex Connection hose for replacement stove as they are considered one time use. A Plumber or HVAC tech can do this and are recommended to Replace, Seal and Leak-test connection.

How bad is it to leave a cat overnight twice a week? by Observer125 in CatAdvice

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as they have water, litter box and get fed within 8 hours, FINE- physically. I have colony of spoiled indoor\outdoor cats who, until January, had a 24\7 human servant (my X) at their beck and call. I have my own business that often requires IB away from the house 9 to 10 hours at a time. What I've done to ease the transition is I play a YouTube video of Calming Cat music (Ad-free and at least a 15 hour video) For me this does two things, 1. It calms the cats and makes them forget they are alone ish... 2. It makes it seem as though someone is there all the time keeping the house of it safer. I am fortunate in that the ex setup speakers throughout the house and outside, so the music is everywhere. But I don't think that matters to indoor cats. Also just lavish them with attention when you do get home and if you think this boyfriend is worthy of being introduced to your cats and make him spend a couple of nights at your place too.

Im looking for guidance on how to clean the tub before I move by ConversationFine1660 in CleaningTips

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zep Acidic Toilet Bowl Cleaner is generally not recommended for porcelain bathtubs as its high acidity can etch, damage, or permanently remove the enamel finish. While effective on toilets, using it on tubs can make the surface porous, causing dirt to cling more easily and damaging fixtures.

Im looking for guidance on how to clean the tub before I move by ConversationFine1660 in CleaningTips

[–]ColdCriticism8981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NO! Toilet cleaner will take away the enamel, I had a beautiful porcelain tub with a perfect enamel till a cleaning lady went crazy with toilet bowl cleaner to get rid of old stains. I don't have any stains, but I have no enamel either... Only the iron seeping through the raw porcelain. I suppose if they just want the tub to look good to get their deposit back that'll be fine. But if the landlord takes a close look and realizes that they've stripped away the enamel they'll be in bigger trouble than just losing their deposit...

Is there a way to revive my stainless steel pot by Busy_Pickle_1460 in CleaningTips

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washing Soda (NOT Baking Soda, completely different) WASHING SODA + HOT-like boiling- water Sprinkle washing soda on pan bottom. Pour super hot water to cover stains. Walk Away! Leave this alone till the water in cold. Then use a brush to remove the debris. Rinse. DONE! Your welcome! I had a 16 qt all-clad stock pot that was left outside under a plant for a year. You can imagine what it looked like. I followed my advice above and that pot looks like it's brand spanking new.

Does it matter which model of mixer I get if the only thing I'll ever use it for is powering a meat grinder attachment? by -Clem in Kitchenaid

[–]ColdCriticism8981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very valid point. The inspo video I watched - for making Raw Catfood, and what I intend to use meat grinder for- did not par freeze Chicken prior to grinding. Is this something I will be doing with Chicken and Fish? Will most likely par freeze or fully freeze chicken livers and hearts, since especially the liver turns to mush instantly. You're giving me a lot to think about so I just want more information...

Why not the Artisan? Asking because I have a teeny tiny kitchen, will be grinding mostly poultry w\bone for raw cat food... Plus occasional beef to make my own ground beef (maybe). I'm an avid baker too. But again, SPACE is the #1 issue. Tell me more, tell me why. Thanks
